Trip as in airplanes, LOL.

Funny how we all have a different frame of reference for common phrases, depending on our backgrounds and "interests".

Quote, pyraxis ''Post-trip crash. Just slept for 12 hours and still tired. Itchy, discouraged'', that was the wording that left me unsure of what exactly she meant.

Damned long time too, since I have flown internationally.  Jet lag, pyraxis? Hope you feel better soon. Melatonin is meant to be pretty good for jet lag, due to the way it helps regulate the circadian rythm (there is a word for this, but I can't for the life of me think of it right now)

Pretty much disgusted with the way I'm doing my life.  Woke up at 11:17 a.m., ate b'fast and went to sleep about 2 p.m.  Woke up about 5:30 p.m.  Probably because I ate the wrong b'fast.  Really need to pay more attention to my diet.  Emphasis added for myself.

I am feeling good. My parents are in CA today and we are going to meet at the theater and watch Taken 2 together.
Well that was a good idea but mom just called up and told me that dad is sweaty and sick, he has diabetes, so they are going back to Reno to the VA hospital to have him see a doctor.
I hope he recovers quickly.
blah blah blah

Yeah I see how it was easy to misinterpret. Actually with atypical neurology I wonder if there is really that much difference on a chemical level between a drug trip and the overload/etc caused by a busy holiday and then a long plane trip. Especially since the airline screwed up. (I've always had good experiences with American Airlines to this point, but this was just awful. They overfilled the flight and asked people to check their carry-ons, and WolFish's keys were in a side pocket, which must have come open when they manhandled the bag because when it arrived the pocket was hanging open and the keys were gone. The baggage claim people were singularly unhelpful.)

But yeah, jet lag is hitting me a bit, so melatonin might be a good idea.

Even if it doesn't end up helping, its cheap enough, and certainly harmless enough stuff.

Never tried it in practice, but from what I've read on the SAR of melatonin itself in TIHKAL (alexander&ann shulgin), melatonin is actually quite a decent radioprotective agent, helping resist the effects of radioactive exposure. I do wonder if oxidative stress, from long haul flights might have something to do with the feeling scrappy, after absorption of greater than normal background radiation due to the high altitude could play some part in jet-lag. Next time I have cause to fly, I think I'll try pro-loading the couple of nights pre-flight, take a further dose, or two during the flight itself, depending upon its duration, and continue for a further 2-3 days after, to help reset my circadian rhythms (hah! as if I had one to begin with:P)

Along with plenty of food/drink high in antioxidants, lots of fresh fruit juice, not the processed, reconstituted stuff, but I LOVE fresh grapefruit juice, with the pulp and bits in it, fresh orange, or fresh pomegranate juice. My favourite of all though, I think, have to be either guava, or mango juice. The grapefruit juice can interact, in large quantities, with certain meds though, raising or decreasing plasma levels depending upon the medication in question. Packed full of vitamin C, and antioxidant flavonoid compounds.

I think my meds may need adjusting, actually.
