There's a soreness across my back just below the waist.  Hurts when I move.  Didn't do anything to cause it that I can remember.  Oh, well, OTC meds and heat for a bit should do the trick.

Did you pick up anything heavy?

No.  I'm wondering if it might be a kidney stone.  Just a general twinginess and ache.  Nothing serious yet, just an aggravation.  Have already talked with my friend to drive me to the ER if I need it.

Kidney stone could get you in real agony, I'd rather give birth.... So, hoping it is not that.

Twisted lower back can be alleviated by laying on your back, legs pulled up a bit, and then slowly letting the knees (and legs, of course) fall to the right and then left alternately.

If you start getting a fever, visiting a doctor is a good thing too.

I remember when PA had a kidney stone.  The nurse at the ER was taking his blood pressure and the squeezing was the final straw.  "Take this G_d damn fucking thing off me before I kill you. "  His exact words.

I got blocked by other means (my, to be born soon daughter), a long time ago. Effect similar to kidney stone. Pain was horrendous. And I had the image of my father with a kidney stone before me. Telling my mother, in the middle of the night, to get him the huge knife, so he could cut the damned pain out........

They can't just give you lots of morphine for kidney stone pain?

Wonder about that, you have to pee the damned thing out, don't know what all can get delayed by morphine. And, I can imagine that doctors are very careful with painkillers when kidneys are blocked. The fluids with waste material can barely leave the body, because of the blockage. The pain is when the fluids build up, without being able to be transferred to the bladder. Best to keep that as clean as possible I guess.
