I'm not going to fall in love with him again, but I'm not going to pass the chance to at least talk things over and maybe be friends again. I thought that the lack of excuses or promises was a good sign.

IMO, she won the "prize" by hanging on longer than anyone else who wanted him, then she finally took a good luck at her "prize" after she no longer had to compete to keep him. IMO, nobody who would put you through what he did by stringing you all along could possibly be worth it.
Oh, I don't want a relationship with him any more, the "in love" disappeared shortly after he did.
I don't fall in love easily in the first place, and falling in love again is, for me, pretty much impossible.
I did miss him, though.
