Discouraged by my technical deficiencies as an artist, but determined to improve! :pirate:

You must be BRAVE! :viking:

I must deploy aspie perseverance!   :chores:

Combined with an aspie eye for details.

I had a go at that for a while (a few years, in fact). A friend of mine (who was a professional artist) gave me some really good advice: work exclusively in monochrome at first, so as to focus on the patterns of light and shade, then bring in the colour once you've masterered that (or as near as you can be arsed).

Apart from that, getting your work  looked over by a trained artist , on occasion is really, really, really  helpful.  That saves endless agony trying to work out where you're going wrong for yourself.

I appreciate that, Walkie.  I may try some stuff in black and white for awhile.  I have an artist friend who
has looked at some of my stuff in the past.  I should show him some stuff.  I keep giving up in frustration
over my lack of drafting skill.  I may take a class or two at the community college as well.  :apondering:

That sort of depends. I prefer pencil but that's because I don't have the patience for anything else, but some people seem to have a natural talent for colour and so you could learn about proportions and light in colour just as easily as in black and white.

But for people without a obvious choice in that department, I'd say the advice is sound. I'd also add that it is a good idea to learn about the technicalities as early as possible, from anatomy to perspective and so on.

God, the technical stuff is a big barrier.  I haven't gotten much better since grade school really.
I was advanced for my age, but I've stalled.  I hate feeling incompetent, so I avoid doing things unless
they're easy to master.  That's going to be the great regret of my life unless I get over myself!  :slap:

Stressed after son wanted to talk to me about how stressed he is. :GA:

Awwwwwwww.

Am now picturing the Odeon family in Sweden keeping themselves warm in a stressed way.

 :GA: :GA: :GA: :GA:

He is worried about an English course he is taking, but for the life of me I can't understand why he always chooses to have these talks after 11 PM.

When I am alert enough, I refuse to go in to that kind of talks after 10 pm. Or 9 pm with the youngest.

What kind of course is he taking?

Some pre-uni thing. He's going to be fine, he is good at it and good at expressing himself in writing. But he is worried about schedules and self-organisation and all the administrative stuff.

This is supposed to be my time, dammit. :GA:

By the time he gets his certificate, he will not remember how he stressed you out with his stress. And you can tell him not to bother you again after 9 pm with stuff like that.

There's always going to be something new to worry about. :( After 11PM, of course.

Only life-threatening things like fire and armed burglary are acceptable as an excuse after 10 pm in this household. (Doesn't always work, but it does most of the times, that rule). Oh, and having fun when sharing a beer is also a great excuse for spending time together and pondering on the great things in life after 11 pm.

Everything is life-threatening when my kid is in the mood. :(

I feel pretty happy.  Got my laundry done last night, worked some more on a painting,
watched Jurassic World again  :dino:  and I have a therapy appointment tonight.  It's all good.  8)

Cold. It's been raining nonstop for two days.

Sore. Headache. Poopy.
Crazy, I'm halfway to crazy
Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me

I guess that's just the way it seems
