Good-I had an appointment with my doctor, and FINALLY he is getting willing to at least THINK about allowing me a prescription for memanting, as I told him I had saved up and done another cycle on the drug, and how it literally is the difference between being alive, vital and full of energy, cognitively clear and with my memory issues not issues anymore, and being literally, dead. or at best. incapacitated. Its the difference between day and night. He now knows I am so desperate that I'd bought some memanting from an indian pharmacy, but my GOD it is wonderful, its life-changing totally. So he is beginning to at least consider allowing me to have things reviewed and potentially if I am lucky have it on prescription. I told him I've even been looking for the chemical precursors, so that I may actually synthesize memantine myself, its THAT important to me.
And he has allowed me the increase in my antiseizure drug, chlormethiazole by one capsule a day too. I asked another doc who doesn't know me as well, and is young and suspicious in general. She said no because oh, she thought I might shoot it up. This despite the fact the capsules contain FREEBASE chlormethiazole, dissolved in an oil suspension and cannot as such BE injected. And also that it actually MELTS plastic, such as if it were to be drawn into a syringe it would simply melt the barrel!
She just said 'well I don't know that do I?' and wouldn't even bother to check the BNF. As for preparing a water soluble salt from the capsule contents, forget that, because having made chlormethiazole and its brominated homolog before, they are almost impossible to even FORM a stable salt from them, because the only acid one can do so with is ethanedisulfonic acid, to form the edisylate salt, I don't have any ethanedisulfonic acid in my lab, I could make it, but I just don't bother, the freebase works just fine, no need for extra expense and much effort trying to salt those intractable bastards. Just much more time and effort than it could possibly be worth and to almost no gain in successfully doing so. Waste of time, waste of effort, waste of reagents.
