Very sad.

We found a badly injured cat, earlier. She could not use her hind legs and there was blood all over her. She cried--there's no better way to describe it--as soon as I touched her. Heartbreaking.

We took her to the vet but there was not much they could do other than put her to sleep.

 :'(

Awww jeez.  Bless you for trying.  At least she knew compassion at the end.

I figured she might be a stray, so I was already thinking that I have to give her a home when she's better. :(

My daughter was inconsolable.

Was there anything to indicate she had an owner --- collar, tags?  :(

No, nothing.

I've been looking for missing cat posters. There's a board at our local grocery store that people tend to use for everything. I've also talked to the store's owner since he tends to talk to most of the locals.

Not sure what to hope for, here. :(

If nothing shows up on the board or in the newspaper ads, I guess that's it.  You did a good thing.

Some cats get far away from their houses, before they get an accident. Especially if they decided to go dozing off on a truck or so. Maybe someone 20 km away or more is looking for her.

I take it the vet did not find an ID chip.

Maybe you just want to know the cat was loved, and want to let the owners know that she did get some gentle care in the end.

There was no ID chip, no.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this cat around before, though, so I doubt she had wandered very far.

Did you leave a note on the advertising board in the local grocery store?
