I did indeed. Woke 6:30, to get my oldest to school, then found out she had the day off. My youngest admires me enough to pick up my bug, and I was exhausted from another night of coughing. So, indeed, I told my oldest to turn around, and then found my still warm bed myself again too.  Woke again around 10, and was out of bed around 11.

The greatgrandfather of a friend of mine participated in the first Elfstedentocht ever.

I once went there with my father to watch the event. Must have been in '97, I reckon. Was impressive then.

It's a nice unique tradition but it's a bit too carnavalesk nowadays, in my opinion. Okay, the skaters are kinda heroes but the entourage around it.. We'll see if the weather stays in favour for the event.

I got a lot of little bits of foam insulation on the hair on my wrists where the suit and the gloves left a gap.  I ended up shaving my wrists to get it off and they feel and look weird.
