Am a professional water jar drinker. So I don't have that issue much.

I drink out of big cups at work, so sometimes I just spill on myself.  :autism:

The cold sore is tiny but it still hasn't gone away after a week of treatment!  :violin:

What was the active ingredient in the treatment? Acliclovir or penciclovir?

Acliclovir does nothing for me, apart from stinging. Penciclovir does help, for me.

I missed out big time yesterday, when drinking tea.

It ended up in my shirt. Luckily I was fast enough in getting it all cooled. Did hurt for a while, but, after an hour nothing could be seen any more.

Just googled that. Did you get headaches as side-effects? Seems to happen for more than 10% of the users.  :zombiefuck:

No headaches, though perhaps I should have mentioned that this is an ointment, not a pill.

I saw it mentioned as side-effects for an ointment that had to be applied 5 times a day.

Guess you were part of the majority, < 90% of the patients using it didn't get a headache.

I'm already fed up with all this firework set alight here and the loud BANGs they make. The full 'blast' (of folks setting off fireworks between 00h00 and 02h00) hasn't even started yet. Wish this stupid tradition would end.

Yes, I'm grateful for my success in keeping the cold sore tiny, I just want it gone!  :yarly:

Are there karbidbussen where you are too? They started at 10 am today, but, the drizzle is making that only very few people got started during the day.
There are now slowly more and more deep BOOMs from the milk-churns.

^ No karbiet-geschiet :P here, I think.. but youngsters do make quite a few 'bombs' here. Not like shooting lids with carbide with them milk-churns but they're heavy/hard BOOMs as well.

People here buy a lot of their fireworks in Belgium, just across the border/a little over 10 kms from BoZ. Regulation/law is less stringent there. You can just go to a 'firework' store and buy the heavy shite year round.

A man across the street used to get Belgian fireworks.

That was heavy stuff indeed. Even before the shooting of his fireworks, his installations looked war proof. The BOOMs were of milk-churn quality, and the danger bigger I think.

When I lived in Kampen, they would be shooting milk-churns in my street. The BOOMs I could kinda get used to after 4v am or so, but the rattling of the lid through the street all night was of a too high pitch to mentally block out.

Biggest problem of this night is that at the end of the night people are too drunk to realise what they are doing. First year I lived here, some empty houses were shot through, with milk-churns. And, a neighbour was threatened to have that done to his house, for complaining about the ongoing noise till deep in the night.

I have a splinter in my finger that I have been unable to remove.

Maybe this?

A Miraculous Way to Remove a Splinter

You will need:

•about a teaspoon of Vicks' Vapour Rub
•1 large plaster
Method:

•clean the dry the area of skin around the splinter
•apply the Vicks' Vapour Rub to the splinter's area
•stick the plaster over the area - you may need to bandage the plaster on - it is very important that the plaster does not come off
•leave for a few hours or overnight
•remove the plaster carefully - the splinter will have worked its way out and be on the plaster
•dispose of the plaster carefully

Thanks.  I went out and bought some Vicks Vap-o-rub and put a big glob of it on my splinter and covered it with a Band-Aid and covered the Band-Aid with a white cotton glove because the Vap-o-rub was oozing out of the edges of the Band-Aid and I didn't want it to fall off in the middle of the night.

I'll let you know if I can see the splinter after I remove the Band-Aid.  It still hurts a bit, but that could be because of all the digging I did.

I did try probing with the tip of a sharp knife, but I couldn't get under the splinter with it.
