Yes.  And I'm probably one of them.  In the past 10 or so days I've not paid enough attention when backing up and nearly hit a pick-up truck and a pedestrian (hit her purse instead of her.)

I don't pay enough attention.  I can turn and look, but my eyes don't seem to register anything (not a vision thing, a mind thing).  It's simply a matter of taking my time and being aware of what I need to do to be a safe driver.
