The vacuum cleaner has bitten the dust. Literally. Kayleigh was using it to clean up some flour she spilled and it zapped her then stopped working. So I have to use my savings to get another one. We're going halves though so I'm ok with that.

We had to buy a new vacuum cleaner about a day or two after Christmas. Amazon to the rescue.

Funny thing is our old one still vacuums great, but the vibrating spinney brush thing quit working - no replacement available.

The REAL funny thing is that I am a hoarder and a repurposer. I can't just recycle a working motor without exploring ways to give it a new life!

I have been planning to build myself a "record cleaning station" where all my LP cleaning tasks are combined onto/into one cabinet space for convenience and simplifying workflow.

I have been using a "Spin Clean" (deep cleans with water solution and mild scrubbing) and a "Vinyl Vac" (for drying and final sweeps before playing) attachment that I hook to a small external shop vac, but having everything to do with the LP cleaning process, both wet and dry, in one case, on wheels, would be awesome.

The body and sucky parts of this vacuum are set aside for that build project, soon.

I've been waiting for our vacuum to die.  :lol1: About a year ago it started making a screeching sound when I turned it off and it was winding down. Sugarbutt said it sounded like the bearings were going, and I told him I wont be offended if it stops working. I bought it when the floors were still his job and he likes a big vacuum that cuts a wide path, while I prefer something smaller and lightweight. For some reason it stopped making the noise after a couple of months and it's still working fine.  :dunno:

DirtDawg, I wish we had you around to see whether our vacuum cleaner really has met its demise but not only does it not work, it also won't charge. Icequeen also would be good to have around. :)

A decent new vacuum cleaner that has a power head (which Kayleigh says is a must) will cost around $600AUD. We need one soon.

Gary, I'd prefer a lightweight vacuum as well but since Kayleigh does the vacuuming, she gets to choose. I sweep the house, then mop it but Kayleigh prefers to vacuum. Plus we have a huge rug in the loungeroom (the only carpet) and that needs vacuuming frequently. It's looking pretty ordinary right now.
