Yesterday I had two large blue jays come into my bird feeding areas. All the other birds left.

While I say I love all birds, even jays, if I had a bouncer bird to deploy, it would be to show them the door.
I would rather have a hundred birds of about ten kinds than just two birds.

Jays can be so brutal! The mocking birds were the first to return and challenge these meanies.
Even the much larger crows avoided the jays.

I wonder if they're from Toronto

If so they would be "just passing through" and that is easier to deal with.

Thought I was going to be able to stay home all day. But no... we need groceries and I'm the one who has to get them.

I'm wondering if my IBS is affected by dairy.

As you get older you become more intolerant of dairy anyway, that's something no one really tells you. I can only have smaller amounts these days compared to when I was younger.

My electricity bills are set to increase, not because the tariff is drastically increasing, but because the power company is "reconfiguring" their electricity plans.

Time to turn the solar booster off. Though with the amount of non-sunny days we're set to have until la nina ends I guess I'll be having luke warm showers all summer.

I guess I do not understand what a solar booster is, but why would you turn it off if electricity is going up in price?

In our neighborhood, every house has a small panel of old outdated solar panels (mine has eight, some have four and some have more modern ones covering the entire roof) that do not do enough to power our homes, but the idea is that they do add some electricity to your home, saving a tiny bit each month on electricity bills. It adds output even in the rain.
Is that similar to your solar booster?
Why would you ever turn it off?

^ 'Booster on' means it turns the solar off and switches to using electricity from the grid. It's a solar hot water system with a single panel, nothing fancy, just that the water doesn't get hot on cloudy or dark rainy days, hence why the booster switch is there. I plan to keep the booster off and just put up with the water temp.

Second day my daughter drives into work from her new place she rear ended someone and possibly totaled her car,  she's fine but  :GA:

That's tough!
I'm glad she is OK.

Mine still won't drive much.
Every time I feel I'm making headway with building their confidence, some idiot does something stupid right in front of us and I have to slam the brakes on and steer clear of having an accident myself.
It literally happens every few days, but sometimes it happens when they are in the car and so for either of them driving is OUT again.

Good thing she was not hurt!!

So glad my kids have yet to experience anything like that. The daughter's well prepared, I think, but the son's life would collapse. He's not very good at handling obstacles.

Is it just me or are people in general losing their ability to drive?

I am sad!

The sweet girl dog I had adopted a couple of years ago from an old lady who died in the old neighborhood (the second old dead person we found on our neighborhood watch, btw) was trying to protect me from another dog, shook off her collar and ran after the mean barky dog, right in front of a car and died today.

I know these things just happen sometimes, but I was very attached to her. She was so willing, after a bit, to join our little pack and make us her family. We had another dog (who is dead now, too) and she just found her place in the pecking order and loved everyone, even the other dog, Winkie. We lost Winkie a few months back.
Her name was, Jumpy. Jumpy is gone.
 :'(

Now we have the one dog, Cupid, who is a chiweenie and absolutely adorable. He had been looking for her all afternoon.
I let him sniff her body and he was OK with it, once he understood.

Oh no. I am so sorry. :'(

It's not just you, I don't think. After two years of hardly ever leaving the house, I don't feel as comfortable driving, and get a lot more anxious. I don't know if my driving is worse, but I wouldn't be surprised. That might be true for other people too.  :dunno:

I don't think my mum drives anymore. I'm sad because she's lost her independence.

I'm wondering if my IBS is affected by dairy.

Eliminate it for a month and see, you have nothing to lose...although it can be hard to do, that I get.

A lot of people with IBS have milk allergies/lactose intolerance or are just sensitive to dairy products.
This holds true for both myself and my son.

I don't have a problem avoiding milk, and most other dairy products...but cheese for me is the tough one.

I don't have much experience with my employment history, maybe I'll find something that suits me... maybe not?
