The more I live with this carpet in my new place the dirtier it looks. Wonder if a decent clean will do but I seriously just want new carpet..
AND the walls need a good dose of sugar soap.

I think you answered your own question.

Cleaning the old carpet well until you can replace it seems reasonable to me.

I heard a guy, I was trying to help,  saying how it felt terrible when his feet stick to the carpet. I'm thinking, "SHIT Dude!! How grungy do you allow your carpet to get before you clean it?" :lol1:

Tear it up, I seriously think that contributed to the beginning of my asthma in the old house, and two years using the inhaler too much in this one, thought it was my imagination here...the carpet was cream and it "looked" very clean and wasn't ancient or worn unlike stuff we ripped up in the other house. Then the cats started marking certain areas (my mom had a cat years ago)...my first experience with Feliway $$ (both the spray and the diffuser)...I think it actually encouraged the older male, or he's just a vindictive (but very loving) furry asshole that hates carpet and throw rugs. Nope, nadda, grabbed a razor knife and a pry bar and went to town, the dirt hiding underneath was unreal. :P

I bought Feliway for our cats not long after we moved in here but it made no difference. I even sprayed Mollie's bed with it and she remained as grumpy as ever. I hope it makes a difference for your cats, Charlotte.


Im not looking forward to work today. It's Melbourne Cup Day and all the staff were going to have a luncheon in the Group Room.

There's going to be a lot of mess, rubbish and food everywhere to clean up, just like last year.

Well, if today is enough of a indication, the Feliway seems to be doing something. My older cat helped herself to the leftovers in my younger cat's food bowl and the younger cat just sat there and watched! In fact he's been rather placid all day...so far. My older cat is still being stand-offish towards him as usual.
I had to resort to buying the stuff because they had a legit real chunks of fur ripped out fight last night, and the younger one was hissing and carrying on at nothing for the rest of the night. Behaviour I've never seen from either of them before :(

No wait I spoke too soon. There was another cat outside at the glass screen door and it triggered them into having another massive fight  (emo).
A loud one. That's one way to introduce the cats to the neighbours. And I haven't even sent the application to strata to have them there yet.

My youngest was growling by the door a few nights back...discovered a tiny feral kitten hanging around last night so I think that's why.

Put out some food for it. FFS it's tiny.

I do not need another one. The tiny kitten I took in last is now a 20 lb whopper and is an eating machine, I have to guard the food for the other two when I feed them, or he will push them aside and eat theirs too.  :facepalm2:
