That bitch will not leave me alone!

DAMN IT!!!

I'm sorry.  I thought you liked me.  Off with you to the Tower.

Not you Majesty... I wouldn't say that to a Queen.

This is someone IRL that's been bothering me

The USB-C is probably the "best" in the consumer world. But the cables are just as likely to wear out and quit charging as any of the other profiles.
Before spending a fuck-ton of $$ on a new phone, try a new cable and a new wall wart. While your new phone will come with these, it never hurts to have a dependable spare charger set up.

I have had good luck using Samsung and Sony devices in the past. I am due to upgrade as well, so I will have to do a bunch more looking before I leap to a new cell system.

Try replacing your charging equipment as you consider spending lots of money on a completely new system.
 :viking:

I just want USB-C again because I can't be bothered getting an all new charging setup. I've got a 3 year old Nokia 8. Not sure what's happening but the charging connector inside the phone has gone all loose, so the cable won't sit snug in the hole and the connectors aren't 'connecting'. I can usually hack fix it by sticking a thin layer of sticky tape around the end of the charging cable but even that's not working anymore. I got a new charging cable last week and it's still the same.
Can the charging connector inside the phone be replaced? And would it even be worth it? The repair might be more expensive than the phone is worth at this point.

I have to use one of those two-factor authenticator apps to get into the system we use at work so I need to get something sorted ASAP.

Charging connectors can be replaced - next to cracked screens, I believe they are the most common repairs done on phones. Having said that, the job could still cost you a lot of money because they want you to buy a new one, but around here there are a lot of small shops specialising in fixing mobile phones. I imagine the same to be true where you are.

You can do it yourself if you have the motor skills and patience, though - there are plenty of instructions on the web, and the ports themselves are usually dirt cheap.

USB-C is pretty much everywhere now, and most phones use it, as far as I know.

All true.

Your Nokia probably has the highest quality parts inside, including the, most abused, charge port.
Before you spend on replacing anything on a three year old phone, try a NEW cable. The cable is often the weakest link.

Twenty dollar test to buy a new one, but if you have any other working second charging system, try it.

I managed to get the phone charged last night. I found another cable in the garage while looking for my old alarm clock (since the phone was dead).
Fingers crossed it works again tonight. There's a google search full of complaints about the charger hole on the Nokia 6 and 7, but I suppose it extends to mine too.

I dunno, on one hand I guess I'm due for an upgrade, but on the other hand I don't want to spend that kinda money until after I move in a few weeks.

In addendum to crush boi's intention to leave since the partners won't hire someone extra to help him out with his huge backlog of tax work. They have now put it back on him and said it's because he dedicates too much time to talking to clients when they walk through the door or call. Oh we're sorry we didn't know this was a call centre where we're restricted to like 2 seconds per call! The other boss guy spent years developing a social rapport with all of his clients, a rapport that crush boi inherited by association, but that sort of stuff doesn't matter to the partners. Just as long as the client pays their invoice and leaves us alone till next year, right?

They just don't get it do they. They don't really want to help, or do what's needed to retain staff  and keep them happy. They'd rather just blame and back people into a corner and put their egos and need to be right above all else. I'm surprised they haven't also blamed me for not helping him hard enough.

Cursing a dev who contradicted my authoring guidelines when explaining a system to a tech writer today. The bloody cheek of it. He'll live to regret it.

^That really sucks. I hope the car is insured.

My car alarm sounded three times during the night, starting at 2am. I turned it off each time within seconds because I had my keys near me but seriously, what a pain in the arse. I'm sorry for the guy next door, who must have been woken up by it.

I need to work out why it's happening.
