I'm getting (part of) a cold.

Old man had one just a few days ago, now I'm fairly sure I've got it, the ol' git and his plaguemongering gitness!

I've got the stuffed up nose and the cough, congested respiratory tract etc.

Thankfully no fever, no shivering and shakes and weakness, though, or muscle aches. I'm guessing because of the effects of opioids on cytokine release, since pro-inflammatory cytokines are, AFAIK, the cause, rather than the cold viruses themselves, that cause that subset of symptoms, its the body's response to the viral infection that causes those, although I've still got the respiratory symptoms.

Although I can't say as I'm complaining that I've got no headache, myalgia, fatigue, fever, shakiness, alternating between boiling and freezing and all that nasty proinflammatory cytokine-induced unpleasantness. And also, thankfully, because I'm on clonidine and tizanidine, two chemically and pharmacologically similar drugs on my med list, that act as inhibitors of (nor)adrenaline release and as a side effect at the high doses of tizanidine especially that I'm on as a muscle relaxer for the nerve damage in my left leg, I get quite bad nasal congestion sometimes, so I get a permanent refill script of xylometazoline nasal spray, and the side effects of each other cancel each other out (I.e no congestion, no rhinitis medicamentosa if I don't use the spray), so I've at least got the decongestant, so I don't need to use any PSE. Just a nasty cough.

Its just about morning now. And I fucking hate it too. I hate it that much I'm about to take a sleeping pill, put on my blindfold and curl up to sleep on the sofa, busily cursing the fact that mornings exist until such time as the pill puts me to sleep. And possibly, just maybe dreaming about beating the shit out of an incarnate morning with a midnight-black-painted, rusty nail-studded cricket bat dripping with battery acid

Compared to me, you practically want to marry mornings, Odeon, you adore them that much. NOT a morning person here. In fact, whenever it is morning, I am IN mourning.

TY QV hun although admittedly I've always been more a beef than a chicken person when it comes to soup. But still, its not the flavour but where its coming from that counts (or rather, who)

*microwaves QV's gift of chicken soup in his brand new, as yet unused and thus clean and chemical-free 4-neck 5 liter flask and sups it from a flask-neck, with a clean condenser added to keep it at just the perfect heat*

The meds I already take are having a pretty good effect at keeping the lurgy pretty thoroughly stomped down too, you'll be glad to know. Thankfully, together, all the med types I'm rx'd have come together to crack the whip pretty hard when it comes to keeping at bay all but the respiratory shitty symptoms. No bone-aches or muscle aches due to painkillers and muscle relaxers. Doing a number on preventing any headache too, and all that nasty run-down-ness, antiseizure meds are making sure I get plenty sleep as a side effect it seems while I have this cold particularly.

And mmmmhh...canned grapefruit in unsweetened grapefruit juice too. Chicken soup for the soul, or what is left of mine, at any rate.

I went and signed up for classes today and who should be taking those classes than my least favourite teacher. I thought my teacher from last semester would be there today as he said he would be the last time I saw him. I asked where he was and was told he was teaching at another campus. I wonder when he was told.

Anyway, the whole thing is a bitch.
