i was sedated for mine (a benefit of insurance that pays for everything) and still woke up with a sore throat. i had a recorder in my pocket. i now know that i have a strong gag reflex. i was awake for the whole thing but remember none of it.

and i have a minor bitch. i usually complain about these middle aged women guerillas on the metro, but today's experience was different. coming home on the metro after officially becoming able to pay taxes in canada (rah, rah...), some little idiot tried to move me from where i was standing on the metro platform. he stood shoulder to elbow with me and thought i would move. i did - enough to put my backpack where my elbow had been. i don't like being touched. the little stinker (he reeked of cobbled cigarette butts) tried to push me. he was so small that the effort made him fall back. what the hell, guy? i'm still laughing, but what the hell???

Yeah, that is the sinister thing about sedation.  It's supposed to induce amnesia , so you wake up thinking you had a nice painless sleep and everybody was nice to you.

I knew something would happen to Kayleigh while I am away (going back home on Sunday).

She has had a sore throat since Thursday. She woke up this morning not able to swallow or eat anything. Her friend (bless him) took her to the ED. Kayleigh told me via text that she is being treated with IV antibiotics and steroids for 24 hours. If she's not better after that, she will be moved to another hospital (a public one, because the one she is in is private) to have her tonsils out.

Ironic, since Kayleigh has had problems for years with her tonsils. She as even been to an ENT specialist early this year who said her tonsils were a "variation of normal". Grr!
