It's official. Another thunderbug has died in my laptop. And it's body will get more vague and bigger in the left corner of the screen.

There is one horizontal on the left peeking through avatars on I2, giving them weird eyes now and then. There is another one at the top of the screen, right from the middle, not bothering me too much. And now there is this new one.

I do not like them. I dislike them even more, when dying behind the screen.

Thrips. They often come in abundance when there are thunderstorms about to happen. Hence the name. In Dutch they have similar nicknames. Saw that Wikipedia used this in their English entry on thrips.

Okay.  Thrips are kind of squishy, yucky bugs.  Better than termites, but dragon flies are the best. 

We have a re-infestation of fruit flies starting.  The mixture of ketchup and grape jam in a clear plastic cup with clear plastic covering (one small hole) really cut down on the numbers.  Need to make up another batch or two

Found out they liked yeast with water and sugar a lot too. So, now there is a wine bottle with some water, sugar and yeast on the counter. Have not had fruitflies around my head since.

i don't get this logic. to protect me from corrupted and infected files, instead of allowing me to save them where i want, opera (and chrome, i'm pretty sure) save them to my downloads folder, where, if i were the uninitiated type, i might open them without scanning them for issues.
most of the people i know who use chrome know little about such things. how is anyone protected by this practice?
i have to open a crippled mozilla browser to download where i want. i miss the days when i had the wherewithal to use linux.
