Do you have osteoarthritis?

  Apparently.  When I had my follow-up X-ray after breaking my left pinkie in 2010, the
  physician's assistant who read the X-ray said there were signs of arthritis in the fingers already,
  nothing bad.  Just wear and tear.*  As long as I can use my body parts, I'm OK with some
  stiffness and the knobby joints.  We'll see if it gets worse. 

    * I also have some spurring in my spine.  Again, wear and tear.

there is a possibility that some are carpenter ants escaped from the rotting wood that the sleazy handyman tore down. he does not clean up after himself and there was rotten wood debris everywhere. we swept it up without looking at it. the ants are huge, black and the back part is banded. they did not like the regular ant bait. there are smaller ones (tiny by comparison) that are coming in by the window. we have ant bait over there and have not seen much of them in the house lately.

i will be making a special maple syrup and bacon ant bait for the big ones. i am using insect repellent since they seem to like crawling over my bed. will be putting glue tape on Py's bed legs to see if that will deter or catch any.
the good news is no new mice.

Cicadas...or 17 yr locust.
They are just starting to come out.

They're about 2" long.
Nasty as hell when you get them on the windshield.

They will last about 6 weeks and then start to die off.
