Yep Halloween just seems to me to be an excuse for polite robbery- give us some fucking sweets or we'll egg your house (although obviously usually without the 'fucking' part).

I like Halloween. Halloween's my traditional LARP'ing day. Don't you people have any imagination? There are advantages to the day where the more you look like a weirdo or a monster, the more compliments you will get.

My daughter was a Renaissance princess and I took her Trick or Treating.  She had fun, but she did get kind of overloaded with the excitement and sweets.

The Lakewood mall has trick or treating at every store tonight.

my kids got boatlads.

but guess what:

all the super duper chain stores; J.C. Pennies, Macys,  Starbucks, etc, all put up signs right from the start (We are out of candy).

All the Ma and Pa stores and other smaller retailers spoiled the kids.

what the fuck is that, like they don't want to hurt their bottom line or are afraid of lawsuits or something.
screw them, and they can kiss my X-mas budget spending goodbye, i won't be shopping at any of the bigger stores this year.

for christians it is.... but the Pagans have a more active relationship with this time, but they call it Sowein and its all about ancestors and the dead and not holding your ceremony (which involves Fire) in a Room with no sock over the fire alarm :(

yea and they also encourage other religious blessings to be performed after the ceremony (unlike the other religions with the exception of Daoism) ;D

I agree, but we're talking about Halloween here not Samhaim, there is a HUGE difference IMO.
