Music from the 60's or the 70's?
[/quote]

Just about any century before the 20th.  If I had to choose it would be the 60's becausae it was mostly rock and roll until the late mid 60's.

Apples or bananas?

Depends a lot on my mood. Do eat more apples than bananas though. So I'll go for apples.

Do you prefer darkness or light outside at night?

Darkness. It's the one time when it doesn't feel over stimulating.

When you fall asleep at night do you like background noise or quiet?

Background noise, but I can't have it.  If I do then I tend to ignore the clock radio telling me to get up.  Even with the radio turned to alarm.

Unicycle or roller skates?

Roller skates. I can roller skate and ice skate. Though I don't like the consequences of falling on ice.

Do you prefer a tiled floor in your house or a carpeted floor?

Of the two I'd go for a tiled floor.. but then with some loose rugs here and there probably. Most liked is a real wooden floor though.

Impressionism (another way of saying "you have a funny way of seeing things")

John or Paul?

St. Paul, can't stand the writing style of st. John.

"His dark Materials" or "Lord of the Rings"?

"His dark Materials" or "Lord of the Rings"?
Definitely Lord of the Rings.  the Dark Materials trilogy is a temproary would-be classic, methinks.  It's way too cynical, in too adult a way and tries too hard to be clever.  Proper fantasy draws out the underlying meaning in mythological material.   Pulman too often descends into taking the piss.

Since we're being literary:

T.S. Eliot or Wendy Cope?

(In case ya don't know her,  here's one of her Wasteland Limericks:
In April one seldom feels cheerful;
Dry stones, sun and dust make me fearful;
Clairvoyantes distress me,
Commuters depress me--
Met Stetson and gave him an earful. )

Impressionism. When I look at surrealism all I see is distortion and it bugs me.

Wendy Cope, because the poem made me grin.

I have enjoyed Elliott, but that was over three decades ago.

@ Walkie, funny how you read Pullman as cynical. I found him not cynical at all. Should myself opt for a third option though; "Duncton Wood".
