CBC-get ammonium phosphate or sulfate fertilizer, and a bottle of caustic soda. The latter, being a stronger base, will displace ammonia from its salts, ammonia being the weaker base. Cool the solution in an ice bath to help it absorb as much as possible and bubble the resultant gas through water. Or better, through OTC dilute NH3 (aqueous ammonia water) not the sudsy crap, just plain NH3(aq). Using a hose and aquaculture airstone will help diffuse the ammonia into the water and give you as strong a liquor ammonia as you wish up until its saturation limits.
If you want ANHYDROUS ammonia, generate it using calcium oxide (quicklime) as the base, since it generates no hydroxide ions, and just a ml or so of H2O, or even less.and an ammonium salt. I mention the phosphate and sulfate mainly because they are obtainable in a muckyish grade as fertilizer from hardware stores and even this stuff works fine for NH3 gas generators. Use dry ice to condense anhydrous, if thats what you want. For anhydrous, a gas mask and blast shield over the face is mandatory. I nearly lost an eye due to an ammonia generator producing annie. Albeit I didn't know it was an NH3 generator. Long story, and one best not told.
