No, I didn't miss your keyword. There will always be extremists, regardless of religion. Muslims, Jews, Christians... Throwing in a blatant generalization such as the "Muslim plague" is bigotry, nothing more.

i'd call it defeatist, myself.

it may well be true, but we don't know until the fat lady sings.  and besides, it'll be a self-fulfilling prophecy if everyone adopts that attitude, and does nothing about anything.
