You couldn't do that in Sweden either I think. I made a 10 kilo bomb in 1999, and I was shocked by the power in it. It was like an earthquake ½ kilometer away...though in eastern Europe the land is still lawless after the commies left...

Anything louder than a big firework around here will attract attention.  I am in the outskirts of the NYC metro area and they have commercials on about reporting suspicious activity all the time.  The cops in my town are particularly  nosy and have done many drive bys of my house when I have been doing anything to do with smoke like blacksmithing or welding.  They even could someone in the North park of my town who lit off a 1 kg homemade bomb about 4 months ago

It depends completely where you set it off here. You shouldn't set it off anywhere near a city or village, of course.
