I remember hearing a song where the lyrics are:

"6.66 is one hundredth of the number of the beast"

and thought it was funny how they converted a decimal into a fraction within that song. :P

I received $6.66 as change at a gas station while on a camping trip with my fraternity in South Florida (near Miami).   As we were about to leave the gas station, someone backed into my car and damaged my big brother's aluminum mountain bike that was attached to the back of my car (on a rack with other bikes).   That was a coincidence of course haha.

A few times my purchases have totalled $6.66...I'm not religious, but when that happens,
I usually grab some small item on display at the counter and add it to my bill.  :P

A former brother in law of mine recalculated his estimated costs to a customer, because he did not want to end up with 666  :green:
In his church the number of the beast was taken very serious.

It's a fucking number, people going out of their way to avoid having any kind of association with this number are just as pathetic as those who cancel their hotel reservations if they're on the 13th floor.

Ok, aside from those with Autistic or OCD associations to certain numbers, like people that need to always have 6 of everything, that's one thing.  It's the whole superstition thing that I've never been able to understand, I've always been of the mindset of that anything that doesn't have a direct cause is completely random.  If you run a random number generator on 1 to 1000, you have just as much of a chance of getting the number 666 as you do 13, or any other number between 1 and 1000.  You even run the chance of getting 666 666 times in a row, when things are absolutely random, there's always a chance.

I dislike the superstitions I have, but a religious upbringing (plus media exposure to fundamentalism, with all its tales of terror, such as near-death experiences in which people supposedly visited hell and were only saved by prayer) can put fear into any impressionable mind. I'm less bothered by it than I once was, but 666 is still, for me, an number with unpleasant associations.  :violin:

Since you are already there,  I say, go ahead and find a mirror or two and smash them, follow every black cat you see and cross their trails, turn left onto every thirteenth street you see, go to the thirteenth floor in every office building you see and piss in the southwestern corner, kill a chicken without removing its heart first, walk back and forth under every ladder you see to the lyric "Up, Up, And Away In My Beautiful Balloon"  and look deeply into the eye of a blond child without touching their heads  and just get the whole lot of shit over with at once.

Otherwise, your death will only be prolonged ...   ...   ...   ...

Other than all that bullshit that I just made up, he just wants you to stimulate him so he started a thread about something.

I think you can decide on your own what this thread is about.

There, a few words to describe what it took me many words to categorise.

UgH!!

First of all it is so easy to envision binary functions as long as you remember how they work ... twos, fours, eights, sixteens - you do know all your twos, right?

Second, you can use google or any number of university websites to "decode fucking codes!!" if they evade you and your abilities

Third, WHO THE FUCK CARES!!!

Didn't even think to check. lol. Guess it's not.

I googled the number you posted and it was said to be the number of the beast here (http://normantranscript.com/columns/x518965402/001101100011011000110110-the-binary-number-of-the-Beast), so I tried converting the word beast from ASCII to binary, using this ASCII to binary converter:

http://www.roubaixinteractive.com/PlayGround/Binary_Conversion/Binary_To_Text.asp

I got 0110001001100101011000010111001101110100, which isn't your number either, so I didn't know what they could have been thinking.

So then I entered your number 001101100011011000110110 into the binary side of the converter, and got 666.

So 666 in ASCII is 001101100011011000110110 in binary.

Yes. That was a confusing post. How does the word beast come into play?

I wondered how the number you posted could possibly be considered the number of the beast, so I investigated possibilities.

The first possibility I investigated was the ASCII text converted into binary for the word "beast" which did not work.

To investigate the second possibility, I converted your number from binary to ASCII text and got the number "666" so it worked.
