Do a Britney Spears and cut your hair off.

Honestly, who cares?

it doesn't look terrible. cut it above the jawline. that way it's cute.

If you can afford to potentially get several haircuts ina  short period of time, I'd suggest taking off a little length at a time.  A couple inches can feel more drastic than you'd expect, and you can always cut more hair off.  Growing it takes a wee bit longer.

But I bet you'd be able to have short or long hair and still make it look fabulous.

I think shoulder length hair suits many women and I think it would suit you.

That's boring though. If it's not going to be short, it has to be layered.

How long is your hair right now?

I like PMS Elle's idea of getting it cut in stages, so you can live with it at each stage and see which length you really prefer, rather than whacking it off all at once.

I have had very long hair and very short hair and I prefer long hair because I can tie it back in a ponytail when I want it out of the way.

i agree with callaway - always had long hair, and it's so much easier to get it up and out of the way.  also, hair care takes me about ten minutes, as opposed to mousses and gels and all that faffing.  either that, or a short, feathered cut, which is easy to maintain, but needs regular (and expensive) cutting.

Wear a hat.

A layered look is easy to maintain, wash and wear.

i disagree.  i had my hair cut once, to should blade length, with layers, and it was a fucking nightmare, if i didn't want to look like i'd been pulled through a hedge backwards.  all that styling, and moussing and arranging.  faff beyond belief.

Keep it a medium length.  Chin level.  It'll be more managable.

A good balance, not short, but not long.

It probably depends upon the type of hair, thick, fine, etc.  that one has for hair.  It's such an individual thing.  I have very fine hair and I have a layered mens cut.  But, that works for me.
My daughter has a kind of layered cut and very fine hair.  Of course a lot of that is accidental due to her trichotillomania, which fortunately has tapered off quite significantly in the last year. :crossed:  But, it has left her with a layered look that she does get many compliments on.

chin level is short. for a girl.

i cut my hair myself, i cut a bob and i hope i can do it again. i refuse to pay for hair cutting.

I'd be inclined to agree with PMSElle as if you can try different lengths (stages), you will see which you like best.   While they cut your hair you can have them go with a longer look at first and see how you like it.   You have a pretty face, so I think you should not have any problems pulling off short hair.   I take it you want shorter hair since it is getting warmer where you live this time of year.    It is up to you to decide whether the change would be worth it or not in regards to maintenance and such.   I am sure whatever look you choose, you will still be pretty.   As long as you don't go to extremes with the Sinead O'Connor/Britney Spears shaved head look, you should be fine.
Title: Re: Hair today, gone tomorrow
Post by: Calandale on September 30, 2007, 04:53:36 PM
To me, there's a tremendous advantage
to cutting it all off at once, which is the
lightening of the load.

But, given that your main concern is appearance,
I'd keep it fairly long. Longer hair complements your
cheeks better, I'd guess.

I read somewhere that Britney Spears shaved her head because she thought her ex was just about to make her take a hair follicle drug test, which would show drugs from months before the test was performed and she didn't want to lose her children.

it depends on the cheeks, Calandale. i love having a cut that is above my jawline, so that it exposes the base of the jaw. it brings out my bone structure. i like my bone structure and i want to bring it out. i only do this when i've lost weight.

I do this too. Makes me feel good when people ask me where I got it cut and I tell them in the bathroom, I cut it myself.

I would like to be daring and shave it all off but I know I will get sunburnt on my head. And freckles. Yuck.

I say cut it, the change can be good.

There is a TV show on Fox called Bones that comes on before House that stars the guy from Angel.  They examine murder scenes, tonight's episode some soccer mom got blown up in her minivan.  A part of her leg was in a tree and her fat was burnt into the seats, good stuff.   Didn't watch the show much since I have to write a paper.

Lucifer was referring to Odeon's blood bone specifically.  You are just having an off day, pretty sure you would recognize the word boner usually.

Okay, so I'm asking for some advice on haircuts.

I don't know what to do with my hair, it's too long and I don't have the time to use irons and stuff on it every day, so I'm looking for ideas on easy maintenance hairstyles.

Short and sassy isn't out of the question, (Ok Couch?) but I don't know if I have the nerve to cut off most of my hair just yet. At the moment my hair is extremely boring @_@

Go for something medium length (between the jawline and shoulder), it would suit your face nicely.

If you were my girlfriend asking for advice, I'd say, cut it so its about 8" below your shoulders, and tapered in the back, so it's easy to manage, and fun to play with.  :eyebrows:

That show is based on books by Kathy Reichs who is a forensic anthropologist.

If you want easy maintenance go to a wig store and buy several wigs, then shave your hair off. It's doesn't get much more low maintenance than that, your hairstyle could be as versatile as you want it to be, too.

Someone should compile a bunch of calandale's posts and make a page a day calender out of them. Without any context or anything. It would be like:

Quote
Monday, October 8th
Columbus Day

Nah. That's what razors are for.
I had a different kind of sucking
in mind.

Am wondering if fatty mcblob got her hair cut.

What is a GHD?

a good hair day brand straightner. They are what the salons use, and I usually buy junk, so I want to get something good. They can create flips and curls rather than just straightening.

Nah.... keep it straight. It's easier (for a guy) to play with it that way.  :eyebrows:

If I had ringlets, they would be shorter than hers. Her hair is longer than mine.

The great thing about a curling
iron, is being able to play with styles.
Perms are so evil.

My hair is naturally curly and spectacular when long, a woman would love to have it.  If your hair is thin and behaves when it's short I'll trade.

i'll trade you. i have thin hair but mom claims i have a lot of it because it puffs up when i get curls. it behaves at shoulder length or above the jawline, it's as short as its gone.

i love perms. it makes my fucking year to get a perm. i should dye black and get a perm. it's so hard though cuz i'm afraid of both.

i'd be too afraid to go to a hair salon. social phobia and distrust of their hair abilities.

dying my hair would be hard as i'm afraid of staining the bathroom and i'd have to put it in my head alone and i haven't done that, mom always does it for me. and i fear it gets in my eyes.

I still think you should do it. Plan it all out slowly beforehand to make it easier on yourself.

I still have the haircut where it's short at the back and chin length at the front. But it is growing out as it has been a while since it was cut. I wish my hair wouldn't grow so fast.
