there is no possible way that my Intelligence quotient is anywhere close to yours.

although, i do fancy myself a quick study.  once i get passed testing things and learning things the hard way, i tend to learn exponentially after that.

also i used to have a fantastic, almost photographic memory, that is, until the abuses of my late teens and early twenties.

Question:

in school, what was your favorite subject?
what was your best subject?
Title: Re: Ask Neuroman Anything
Post by: McGiver on May 29, 2006, 07:19:56 PM
also, have you been banned from WP?

do you secretly have a hidden desire to become banned, and join the ranks of the violators of what, i cannot say?
Title: Re: Ask Neuroman Anything
Post by: tinkerjack on May 29, 2006, 07:29:53 PM
not banned, dont do space travel anymore

college:
favorite subject: tie: english writing arts/psychology
best subject: better ask what the worst one was - all A's if i felt like it, B's if i did nothing. go by grades: Spanish - minored in it and got a 4.0
worst subject: auto mechanics instructor subtracted points for being late. late twice so got a B

high school:
best subject: likely english. limited memory of high school.
favorite subject: industrial arts
Title: Re: Ask Neuroman Anything
Post by: McGiver on May 29, 2006, 08:00:24 PM
is industrial arts the same thing as home ec?

Title: Re: Ask Neuroman Anything
Post by: tinkerjack on May 29, 2006, 08:12:22 PM
ROFLMAO!

where were you in high school?
home ec was for girls

industrial arts was for boys - we built things of wood and metal and learned the basics of design. when i went to college i majored in industrial arts until i started losing ground for getting to class late. i switched to writing arts because i knew i could get good grades.

Post by: McGiver on May 29, 2006, 08:23:57 PM
ah hell.

i went to a small private school.  with a minimal budget and a mandatory Bible class.

we didn't even have half the sports programs.
our band comprised of kazoo players.
and our drum major was a minor.

shop...

yeah right, we learned how to make balloon animals instead, and we recycled and reused the balloons.

we did have home ec though.  but all they had was an easy bake oven.  actually my senior year they got a real life microwave.  but only learnt how to make those 2 fer $1 tv dinners.

Title: Re: Ask Neuroman Anything
Post by: tinkerjack on May 29, 2006, 08:42:03 PM
hum - balloon animals...and isn't an easy bake oven a toy? so mcj was playing with toys while i learned to use a drill press...

i take people at their word.

casts a bit of a shadow on the machismo, dont it?

hum, lets see, drill press vs balloon animals, drill press vs balloon animals.
hmmmm.

drill press.
Title: Re: Ask Neuroman Anything
Post by: McGiver on May 29, 2006, 08:44:43 PM
what type of bit did you use on the end of your drill press?

because we had alot of those red balloons, they were always my favorite.
Title: Re: Ask Neuroman Anything
Post by: tinkerjack on May 29, 2006, 08:59:41 PM
material or size?

drill press bits are different than hand drill bits - more tinkering with the chuck.
i know a good bit about drills...
(now you know whence came tinkerjack)

diamond or carbon steel i think back then
titanium would be choice now as i play with metal a lot.

still have some diamond bits, but alas, no room for a full size drill press. have a craftsman (at my house) and a black and decker (at my mom's house).

size depends on the project.
big hole, big bit.

lol.  didn't mean it like that.
yes you did

but that's OK. dont worry your head about it.*

btw - that size doesn't take a bit - it requires a hole cutter. and don't bother with a rotozip - they are unreliable compared with a drill press. too much vibration and not enough structure. a drill press holds the target and the aim is always true.

From your perspective what are your feelings towards IQ.  And what are your honest feelings(please state if you are not willing to share your truest feelings) towards people of significantly lower IQ?

i have never met iq so i dont have any feelings towards him or her.
i cant answer the other question unless my feelings start talking to me. but i have a feeling (based on numerous adages about not trusting one's feelings) that they will not be honest.

the serious answer to the pertinent part of this question is that measuring IQ is like reading tarot cards. it is only a forecast of the person's potential in a particular environment.
lower than mine? lower than yours? lower than mine when i have had a gluten exposure? higher than mine when you are at the top of your game and i have had less than an hour's sleep?
IQ is a delusion.

it was painted in the mid seventies.  maybe that was the % back then.
Title: Re: Ask Neuroman Anything
Post by: Lucifer on May 30, 2006, 12:54:14 AM
possibly.  it depends on the purpose of the painting, the artist's intent, or the point s/he was trying to make.

thought provoking, though, which is always good.  it reminds me of fruit, for some reason, which makes me laugh, considering the use of the word in the states.

interesting that you mention fruit.

DK had an album titled Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, but this was a free poster insert in the album titled FrankenChrist.

are all the penis' vaginal insertions or is one or more anal?

i can't quite tell on a few of them.

all vaginal, unless the "recipients" have developed some interesting labia around their anus.  must make me the jolly green giant, then.   ???

amazingly, i thought they were all anal, until i looked again (hence the hilarity regarding "fruit").

bikinis are merely temptation

what is the most bizzare case you've ever evaluated as a crisis clinician? and what was their diagnosis?
i don't think of cases as bizarre. there are odd ones and cases that made me laugh afterwards

the one that still makes me laugh was the woman i saw in the ER who was standing against a wall. she had a hospital gown (called a johnnie) on and nothing else. she was apprehended walking down the center of the road completely naked. i asked her why she was walking down the road naked and she said, "because i have to preach the word." i said that doesn't explain why you had no clothes on. she said, "because i'm a tree." i said, that still doesn't explain why you were naked. why did you take your clothing off? she put her arms out to the side and said in a loud voice, "because i need to spread my branches and grow!"
cocaine induced psychosis

another man came in complaining of a stone in his throat. he was very distressed. the doctors found nothing. he was a very clean cut, well dressed young man. he was not at risk for harm, so we had to let him go. i could not help him. he left convinced he was going to die because eventually the stone would cut off his air supply.
schizophrenia

i remember the funny and the sad stories, and some of the real clinical mysteries. i really dont think of any as bizzare because as they say, there, but for the grace of god, go i.

Do you believe in a higher power?
If so what made you believe in it, what form do you think it takes, what makes you believe it takes that particular form?
If not, how do you feel about the people who do believe, whats your general attitude towards them?
