Since I don't know how to respond to each post, I'll get them all in this one....

A. Mother of daughter w/ autism, looking for unabashed discussion by people who actually know what they are talking about.
B. Find autistics more interesting than neurotypicals
C. Stuck at home, computers on...

3. Actually, I found my response more interesting...viva la difference...(you know, baby, lots of stuff between, 40...get it?)
4. Sensitive type? My skin usually is fine, why do you ask? Cup size? 8 oz. Thirsty?

When McJagger asked if you are the sensitive type, he meant are you easily offended by harsh language or other things like that.

So where you live just offers full-day kindergarten? Here we can choose either one and I chose half-day morning kindergarten for my daughter, partly because she still took an afternoon nap at that age. Then she went to public elementary school which was full-day, of course. Now she attends a special school for autistic children where she is expected to stay for her three middle school years.

We do not have that luxury. We have to take the full day, 5 days a week. We are going to have another IEP and see how open they might be to just a few days a week. An autism school...what is that like?

It has an adult for every child. They have a preschool and programs for school age children who can't have their needs met in a public school for whatever reason. She just started a couple of weeks ago, but I think she is settling in nicely, even though it is a really long bus ride to the school. I ride with her both ways every day and then the bus driver brings me home, so I ride for over four hours a day. She and I are the only pasengers on this small bus and I set up a DVD player with Bose headphones for her so she can watch movies on the bus if she wants to. It's a fairly new bus and all the seats have safety belts.

When the impossible works for
most of one's life, and then fails,
does it make sense to discard it,
in the hopes that the possible will,

simply living by magic and ignoring the supposed hard
truths of the world, things went ok. Every time that
I've tried to do something however, it's turned out
a royal failure.
No, that's a lie. Every time I've tried to do something
for me? Hell, I don't know. But, just trusting to fate
seemed to work so well for a while (other than being
miserable with worry sometimes - is it still trusting, when
you are just paralyzed?), and trying to actively change
my situation has been, as far as I can judge, a failure
nearly every time I try.
I should have kept my stance that that which is worth
having comes freely, and that which requires work ain't
worth it.
