Example: I was reading about fractional reserve banking and it turns out were actually debt slaves.

I'm fairly sure that the majority of the reported #metoo cases actually did happen. The problem, of course, is that there is no way to prove most of them now, often years after the fact, so the movement is more about public shaming rather than any kind of actual justice.

It is also about changing attitudes.
Previously a Weinstein could shoot his load into an indoor plant or molest a young starlet and his power and influence was such that he got away with shit. Coming forward was always an option for his victims, but in the cases where his victims did come forward nothing was done anyway and he was the kind of guy who could kill your career stone dead any time he wanted.
So yes, he's getting shamed. I don't feel sorry for the prick. Some people have been caught in the crossfire and that is regrettable. The upside is that the next time young actresses encounter this sort of creep in the industry they are more likely to be believed, and it is far more likely that something will be done about it.

What strikes me is that not long ago, most of the #metoo complaints would have gone unnoticed and even if the victim had reported the incident it would most likely not have led to anything whatsoever. Now, the creeps are likely to think twice.
And no; I don't feel sorry for Weinstein, Spacey, etc, not in the least.
