Title: Where do YOU fit on the US political spectrum AND where do you think I fit?

Yes, this may be interesting for yourself to find out about. You may or may not be where you think you "SHOULD" be.

But I think some people may have a thought, given some of my opinions as to where "I" would be.

I want to see the result of your own and a thought as to where you THOUGHT you would be s compared to where you are and a thought as to where you think "I" would be as a comparison.

Thought this was the same I had done before.

Different one. Like it better than the last one. Outcome is the same.

My guess about you?

That you are in the same quadrant, possibly a bit more to the middle.

I might question the parameters leading to the "conclusions,"  but here I am.

I believe that most people with the ability to understand the questions will land closer to the middle than on the fringe, if they answered honestly.

Social justice aside, some of these are tough questions.

In the center of the green lower left square.

About what I expected.

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.31

I was unsure of a couple of questions, I felt neutral on a few. I'm about (from the middle) two mini squares down and four across in the green square.

Al, van you put up a poll, so that we can take bets where your dot is located in this political graph?

The funny thing is I'd be happy with this if it wasn't for the fact that anarcho communists tend to be insufferable cunts. Maybe I'll go outside and take out my displeasure on someone else's private property, lol.

Looks like the majority of us are in that green square.  Is that an Aspie trait/ or just an I2 trait? *chuckle*

I mean, it would be a great surprise if people who like this forum were authoritarian, wouldn't it? so I would be pretty stunned if anybody landed in the top half of the graph
I'm guessing youlre also in the bottom half, Al,  but further to the right than most of us?

I've done a few of these over the years, and I always get that kind of result when I answer them honestly regardless of what I think my political orientation is at the time. I thought I'd become more conservative over the last year or so, but that would seem not to be the case if the result of this test is to be believed. There's probably a lot more to being conservative than just deeply resenting being told to check my privilege by people I know for a fact have way more privilege than I do.

About where I thought.  In the Libertarian quadrant.
You do realise there are two libertarian quadrqants? A right wing one and a left wing one?

The right wing , if i understand then correctly, think that everybody should be free to shaft everybody else as much as they damn well please, and the underdog should love it, because he's somewhat  free to choose  who gets to shaft him, and also he's free to shaft you instead.... supposing  he can hire a big enough mob to bacjk him up.  And everbopdy , but everybody, gets a load of tacky stuff at christmas.  Whoopee.

And the left wing ones... are the good guys. (We've got Ghandi in our quadrant)

My explanation miight be a teeny bit  biased.

After answering all those questions I was too impatient to read fully the ocean of words.  I'm a left wing libertarian.  Odd fact, until a few years ago I was registered as Libertarian for voting purposes.  Changed it to Independent because I didn't fully embrace the Libertarian platform.

You have to declare your political views before you're allowed to vote, where you come from? Holy cow. Doesn't that make a bit of mockery of the secret ballot?  Or have I misgrasped this thing?

I think in most all the states (Pa included) you can check "none" under party affiliation.

But here, to vote in a primary, you must be registered with either the Democratic or Republican party.

You can register as Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent or None in Louisiana.  The party designations are only important when the Party itself opens an election only to voters registered in that Party.  This only happens in a Primary when the parties choose the candidates for the General Election.  The Republicans have been the only Party to exercise this right lately.

Note:  Most Primaries are open, which means the top 2 candidates run in the General Election.  This could result in 2 candidates from the same party running in the General Election.

If you're British it's harder to make it clearer.

Ohhhhh! In Britain you have to be a fully paid-up , card-carrying member of a Party before you get a vote in the internal elections. And even then, it somehow doesn't quite work that way if it's our so-called Labour Party, and members are attempting to swing it back to the left where it belongs.

Walkie, thank you for the term "internal elections."  It fits better and more clearly identifies what a "primary" is.

You'd be very surprised.

It is a work in-joke. I tell everyone at work they will be my new favourite if they do x for me or once they have done y for me. After the complaints of people with competing claims as to being my favourite, I tell them they were but my loyalty is a fickle thing. So now they invented the 5 minute favourite term whenever I tell someone they are my new favourite.
My ACTUAL favourite person there growls at me every time I suggest someone else is my favourite. It's funny.

I want to see the result of your own and a thought as to where you THOUGHT you would be s compared to where you are and a thought as to where you think "I" would be as a comparison.
I was dead centre between right and left and two squares down from the centre of the Libertarian-Authoritarian axis.
If having to guess yours, would have guessed you would fall slightly farther to the right than center, but probably not an extreme of any quarter. If guessing myself, would have guessed dead center of it all. Tend to be a bit of a fence sitter politically; philosophically too. Have been told before it's wishy-washy for both matter, not have a firm stance on any side.

I used to be maybe 3 squares more og the Liberal side. I am not so much of a fencesitter as I think am a bit all over the shop in terms of what I believe in. It is hard to say I am all in for any party's policies. Some will be good and others I don't agree with. Same with the general ideologies

I think am a bit all over the shop in terms of what I believe in.
Politics is an area where both sides of the fence tend to have valid points, which makes for very interesting conversation, so particularly enjoy taking the opposite position of someone else, regardless of what I might believe. That's not to imply an absence of any firm views; do have some. Though at the same time have an appreciation for the civic structure beneath how politics molds the development of society and that appreciation tends to translate to, the reality of what politics is, being more interesting than what I think it should be.
