just noticed your post in the shoutbox. weeelll, if you're finding WP empty, then you'll likely find everywhere else empty, cos WP, historically sucked in everything else, just exactly like your proverbial black hole. And then, mercifilly spat some people out again.
We're the chewed-up ones. Well, except for myself. I'm the one who wouldn't go near that black hole in first place, cos I hated the way that it sucked in the light of other forums and refused to re-emit that light (it really did) . A resourse that fails to point you to other resources? hmmm.
anyways, no doubt you've noticed us rampantly enjoying our freedom here, like proper little kids who've been let out of school? And that hasn't put you off, not yet.

I admit, I haven't been naughty yet over in WP. I've never been threatened with a ban or anything near that. You might find me boring. Or entertaining, since if you've read some of my posts on WP you might find me a little mad. I do get a little tired of some people not breaking the social rules at least a little bit, but at the same time, I think WP has a lot of cool people. Aspie Village on the other hand, is utterly dull and I was warned a few times there. But with its Nazi-like moderation it wasn't really surprising.
Maybe both places are less busy because it's still summer and everyone is outside? Aspies on their computers...I dunno.

I'm not even sure my old handle survvived. We had a change of platform,IIRC, and i never managed to re-register properly, but i was smallbluethingummy about an aeon ago. I dropped that on other boards cos nobody recognised the reference to to the Suzanne Vega song, and they thought it meant something rude. Anyway, i didn't try too hard to re-register cos somebody (i won't name) had been spreading all kinds of shit around about me, and Deano told me (privately) that guy was still active on AV. Nobody believed a word he was saying, but still, i figured it best if we stay right out of each other's orbit.
Prior to that I have a few very good memories, especially of RL meetings. Is Deano still running it? I'd be amazed if he turned into a nazi, though.

I think that the main prob with Aspie Village and the like is that they try too hard to be a "safe environment" which means the bullying gets shuttled into the background, where it does a lot more harm . And the mods can turn into bullies, ofc. However, Deano has been a victim of behind-the-scenes bullying himself. He'd be a good guy to talk to about it.

I agree about the passive aggressive bullying on AV. The so-called "safe environment" excluded a bunch of members. I remember I wasn't the only one picked on, but she really made a point of it at the end, so I kinda told her to f*** off and got myself banned.

I think it's less aggressive here overall than it used to be. I lurked here for months before joining
in 2010, because some of the posters intimidated me. Maybe we've just mellowed with age. :laugh:

Nah, thing is, we tend to get 3 types of members
1. Those who introduce themselves nicely, for then to participate at their own pace.
2. Those who introduce themselves nicely, for then to never ever post again. Ever.
3. Those who kick the door down, barge in, and post pics of penises, ripped off tits, for then to argue with everybody about how they want to be more accepted, and preferably right away.
We have had a looot of #3 lately, that is, a lot of that in one person.
Other than that we have #2, again and again and again :(

That's in some parts, not all of Chicago is a range of stray bullets. The only places I'm aware of that have these issues is either in some parts of the South and West sides.

Like possible meet-ups, for a start (since you raised that). The Aussies and Americans can come in to point and laugh if they like. And the Swedes, ofc. (We need the Swedes to tell us what life is really like in the UK, cos we wouldn't know otherwise)

I think it's actually needed , Odeon. Smudge here wants some meet-ups, for a start. Dunno if they will get off the ground, but surely more chance if arranged within a Brit sub-forum, which Brits will actually notice. A random meet-up thread in a random general forum will not be so salient , nor so easy to keep udated with relevant info. You know what would happen. It woukld get so spammed over that nobody can figure what the heck was said or when, so they don't bortther, even if they notice it. I've seen similar threads in other places. Unless they're actually posted in a UK forum, or UK subforum, they just don't work . You need to herd the Brits together first.
I've also noticed a few specifically British issues coming up on the board now and then, such as Brexit. I mean, we would surely more topics to fill it with, besides the meet-up thing.
