A woodchuck would chuck 3.8 cords of wood, if a woodchuck could chuck wood.  :autism:

:zoinks:

It's strictly a personal relations tool. No one would put up with my crap if I looked like this.  :zoinks:

Oh hey, I didn't even see this. Sometimes I miss stuff, because if someone else logs into this account then it screws up the list of unread topics for me when I log in, but I don't remember that happening in a while and when I look at my profile I see I didn't post at all for three days around that time. Jack was working some stupid hours a couple weeks ago, so I may have not been around to see it. Anyway, I would go for the tea party on the moon. Just be warned, I've been known to wreck a tea party.  :zoinks:

I think most anyone could beat me at eating pie. Sweet goo sets off my gag reflex, so that's the majority of pies. I can handle some pies with pieces of fruit in them, or pecan, but I'm not much of a sweets person. If I eat something sweet, it's usually chocolate or icecream.  :autism:

We've done all we're going to do, which really isn't that much. I may go out and hug the trees today but nothing more. Whatever happens during the storm is what happens during the storm. Our preparations are for the aftermath, ensuring access to clean water, food, electricity, and communications.  :dunno:

Nah, we're not going anywhere. Tropical storm threat/prep is a way of life here, it has it's own season. Most people don't evacuate, they have parties, and the beer sells out as fast as the water. We all went out and hugged the trees together earlier, I think they're our only real concern. :grouphug:

I just realized you might be asking if it's mandatory. Where I'm at, it's not, only the floodzones directly on the coastlines in this area have mandatory evac orders because of expected storm surges. The evac for zone B was only just issued a couple hours ago. At this point, the freewats are packed and there's only two major routes out of the state, so people in those areas are better off just getting out of their zone than trying to leave the state. Evac traffic is very slow, so I think there might be a lot of people stuck on the freeways during the brunt of the storm, and they would have been better off staying home or finding a public shelter.  :dunno:

Hoping it sounds worse than what it pans out to be. Friend of mine left at the beginning of the week to beat the traffic...first one that he ever left for, mostly because of his mother though...he just closed a deal on a house next to Mar a lago last month. It needs work, hoping it weathers the storm somewhat okay for him.

Wonder what humility people living in simple house on Caribbean islands had to learn. They probably had sinful thoughts.

It's weird that this whole thing gets a life outside fundamentalist circles.

But then new age people explaining their fate in the choices they made before being incarnated again made no sense to me either. Some thought it was a liberation from how they were raised with the concept of predestination.
To me there was no difference. It either was a deity planning this "for your own good" or your former self planning it similarly "for your own good".

Either way, screwed by incomprehensible wisdom.

Yeah, I guess the whole notion that you chose your life's hardships when you were a soul waiting to be born
might be very comforting/empowering if you're in the right frame of mind, but I would no more suggest that
notion to someone (even if I believed it) than I would suggest that some deity was punishing them.  :-\

They're good. The eye wall stayed east of us so it wasn't too bad here. Our neighborhood has a lot of old trees, but only one house got smashed. Some water came in the sunroom but that was more hassle than damage, and the yard and roof was a sea of small branches. We spent the first half of the day cleaning up the water and the front yard, and then sent the boy over to clean up his grandma's yard. The power's been out for about twenty hours and I don't know when it will be back up, so I'm posting on generator fuel.  :viking:

I also attend other sporting events with Sugarbutt, but I don't really like it.  :dunno: I discovered I like being at hockey games accidentally when I first attended one. What's the best way to not piss off a gopher?

I'll take this one:

The best way to not piss off a gopher is to put him up your bottom tail-first so he can find his way out more easily.

You'd be right into that.

Not as much as the gopher.
