I have a semi offensive view when it comes to blacks. See, first thing is that I don't think there is anything special or ingenius that you have to know in order to interact with them smoothly. Common sense, kindness, patience. But I really would like, and i know it is asking too much, that they give me more patience, try to be overly friendly, and considerate when I interact with them. Because any time I want to socialize with them I am SO afraid of offending them. And I can EASILY mistake the playful back and forth mocking and jesting that is normal for any human conversation as them not liking me, or thinking i'm stupid, or that i've offended them. And it isn't just blacks, that goes for any race or ethnicity, and the handicapped.
But it is kind of asking too much for them to give me the benefit of the doubt. They definitely can't know it before hand, they probably wont believe I'm serious or how severe it is for me, and people are disinclined to socialize with people who are extra work. That combined with the fact that not 100% of the population is so interested in becoming my friend that they'd even consider it(actually the percentage is very very small in my mind because I'm feeling pessemistic right now(not depressive, it isn't 0, i'd call it 12%)), so the whole thing is difficult and makes me nervous.

I must admit Pol was the first person I thought of when I saw the thread. I am not a PC nut by any means, but if I was a WP admin I would at least ask the thread starter to change the title to "interactions with black people". It just sounds nicer to me.

Why be terrified? There's nothing to be afraid of. Blacks are people too, inferior people who will stab you if you don't them crack money. They're just regular (off-color) people, trying to make it in this world (mainly via by armed robbery).

Seems (english perspective rather than american here) that the majority of race-offense related to blacks is taken in fact by 'upper class' white people with a race-complex verging on obsession who just want an excuse to act like a bitch and cry racism on the behalf of others who probably either would never have heard the remark or read the allegedly offensive material in the first place, or if they did then wouldn't have a single spare fuck to donate. In fact there are 'JOBS' and I use the term with both the greatest reluctance and the most gigantic serving of vitriolic sarcasm as is possible to emanate from a mouth without spontaneous human combustion occurring on the owner.
Basically (often white) sacks of dog shit that collect a paycheck to take offense at the most innocent remarks of a non-racist nature that any ethnic minority would probably not even notice, and break down in tears in shock and 'offense' on behalf of whatever ethnics the remark or literature (was possibly purported to have) involved and if they did notice then they wouldn't likely have given a fuck about.
IMO such 'people' who get paid to cry racism and in the process ruining the careers, and lives, and reputations of the innocent, ought to be burnt alive and before they die, but once their skin is all burnt off, salted with caustic potash.
