i just found out that the team we beat tonight, beat a different team 11-0 on saturday.  and the team that they beat 11-0 beat a different team 4-0 last night.

i am thinking, damn, we beat the second best team in the division, even after they had already had one games experience and this was our first game.

whew, i was starting to worry!

I've always wondered do Americans really wank off into socks?  And is it a custom in other countries?

thanks kevv.  i appreciate that.
really.  i have been feeling down about it all afternoon.  i feel for the girls, they played the entire game and they played their hearts out.  they literally fell over at the end of the game.  they all have a fire in their belly and gave 110 Percent.  the other team scored their 2 goals in the last two minutes of the game.
it was  heartbreaker

You shouldn't feel down about it, you've coached then well and its unrealistic to expect to win every game-as well as a lot of skill, there's also a certain amount of luck involved.

I can see why you're proud though- it seems like you've got them working really hard

i suppose i will feel down about it until tuesday, when, at practice, i can communicate to them exactly how proud i am of all their hard work.

So did you manage to get them feeling good about their excellent efforts at the weekend at training yesterday?
Title: Re: girls youth soccer

So did you manage to get them feeling good about their excellent efforts at the weekend at training yesterday?

yes.

i told them how proud i was of their hard work in the game.  sometimes you lose but its always the effort that matters.  and as a reward, i let them run practice yesterday.

i informed them that they did exactly what they had promised to do (give 100 percent), so i really didn't have anything that i needed to instruct them on (even though i do).  they set up this elaborate rules type scrimmage and selected teams.  they laughed and smiled the whole time.

i cautioned them that on thursday we will go back to working hard.  and encouraged them to have fun today.

Yeah telling them that they gave 100% in there effort even is more than winning or losing a game. Making the game and practice fun also teach them a love of the game.

thanks, and thanks.

yes, my POV is that skill levels are different, i just think its an important life lesson to teach them that working hard is something that should always be a source of pride.
if they work hard, the skill will come.

Thanks kevv.

i couldn't feel prouder.  all the girls are working hard, and playing at a high level.  thay feel good (and happy) when they begin to sweat.  they view that as a sign of doing their part for the team concept.

and finally, this past week, many of the basics that i have been coaching them from the beginning have begun to click.
literally, no matter what, at this point they both will be highly competitive teams.

that, to me, is fun.

Do You consider the season a success?
eh.

i am disappointed that the older girls aren't really improving.  yet the younger girls are turning into a winning machine.
i think that 9 year olds are much more selfconscious than 7 year old.  have more interests, and are harder to instruct.

i am having alot of fun.  they have had some excellent competitions this year.
they all seem to enjoy it also.  though the older girls seem a little down about their recent losing streak.

Three weeks before the playoffs for kids isn't that to long?

there are the holidays and winter breaks from school that must be considered.  many families leave for the holidays, and many teams wouldn't be able to field teams.

2 weeks off for the holidays then one week till the next game for practice and other preperation.
