Title: It's Friday night and everything's alright
Post by: Celticgoddess on October 23, 2009, 05:06:17 PM
(okay, in my part of the world, it's Friday night so the rest of you can just deal with it ;) )

This was playing on the radio today when I was out and about. Couldn't help dancing to it while driving. :green:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKaVBVikysw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKaVBVikysw)

I just finished tidying up my room, so I've got my wine, just lit the candles, it's a frickin downpour of rain outside so it's the perfect night to stay in. Who's going to keep me company tonight?  :zoinks:

Night here, already Saturday.

Have not tidied enough, still need to find that one piece of paper I have to copy and send tomorrow. But hey, kids don't make noises any more, I hope even the insomniac is asleep by now.

So, I'll light some oillamps, poor myself a glass of red wine, cut off a few pieces of cheese, and keep you company for a while.

Satan
Title: Re: It's Friday night and everything's alright
Post by: 'andersom' on October 23, 2009, 06:49:45 PM
Who's writing it?

It's your wish.

We ladies were quite happy with just Wein, Weib and something to eat.

So yours is the honour of making us crave for more. And I just noticed that appropriate thread Bint made for it.

Satan

Who invited him?

Santa, he'll only want to make use of your credit card. Satan will want your soul and creditcard.

Oh, I thought he brought STD's and the idea that safe sex was a fallacy.

Damnit. No STD's!!!! Sigh. The dilemma. I want to keep my soul but I want a really fun toy. Isn't there a compromise somewhere?

Santa,

He's all imagination and dreams. You can ask him what you want, and as long as your creditcard agrees, your soul will be safe, and your wish will be granted.

I think you're right. (okay I take that back about the wine and not feeling it....definitely starting to feel it.) So..do you think it will scar my children to see that Santa has left a vibrator in Mum's stocking?
Title: Re: It's Friday night and everything's alright

As long as you aren't wearing the stocking at the time, it should be fine.

Secret santa is when a bunch of friends/coworkers get together and you're given a name of someone in the group and you buy them a gift under X amount of dollars but you don't tell them it's from you.

Sooo...I'm up for secret santa. I'll give someone my addy if they'd like to give me a vibrator for Christmas.  :zoinks:

*CG makes a little note and sticks it on her bathroom mirror*

When consuming wine, should someone set off your truck alarm, don't be so freaked out that someone is breaking into it, that you go running outside to see wearing nothing but a bra and a pair of yoga pants. You don't realize that you're standing in your front yard half naked until two things happen. A) Your nipples become bullets and B) the dudes at the 4 way stop honk at you and yell "HELL YEAH."

Someone needs to lock me in my room.

Every year at the end of the summer I take the kids to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) and in the farmers building they have people making sculptures out of butter. It's incredible.

I'm going to have dinner with the kiddos and then when the ex comes over to be on kid duty I've got to pop over to the LCBO and buy my wine. I haven't had goat cheese in months. I'm hoping they have the one with dill and the one with cranberries. It's yummy!

The dating preference is mutual.  :cheese: :wine:

Alas, no goat cheese for me, has been months now too. Never had goat cheese with cranberries, but the thought gets me drooling. Will ask the local goat cheese farmer if she has ever made that.

Just made myself a little plate, with an Emmentaler clone, Friesian cheese with cloves and a remnant of Danish Blue. Will do nicely for tonight.

I'd go with your choice of white wines when from the northern hemisphere.
Like red only when it comes from the Southern part of the world. For the rest, it has to be white or maybe a blush.

Not a 75cl? Most wine and liquor bottles here in the US of A are 750ml.

Heavy drinking is fun, just don't turn into Kevv.  ;)

Just checked the bottle again and it is 70.  This is a shit whisky though, a Sainsbury's own brand one

I go through hard drinking phases and stop when I get sick of a particular type of alcohol.  Used to love wine and vodka but had too many pukings so changed beverages to whisky.  I'll probably get sick of it too in a while.  Orr I could just stop drinking spirits straight  :thumbdn:

I like Sambuca too. Tastes like black licorice. Gold Schlagger is yummy too.

When I was 19, my best friend and I were drinking at her Mum's place when she was out of town and turned our shots of Sambuca into flaming shots of Sambuca. I do not reccommend doing this while intoxicated because it just might happen that instead of picking up the shot glass, you may tip it over causing the alcohol and the flame to run down the centre of the table. Two drunk girls with a fire on their hands tends to cause chaos. :P

The friend is now my sister-in-law, the house owner now my mother-in-law and the table we lit on fire (which thankfully had a stone insert and therefore doesn't show a mark) is still in the living room and now the 5 kids we have between the two of us all sit there for cookies and milk, having no idea their Mommy's lit it on fire in a drunken stupor. :green:

Wanted a Riesling. But they did not have what I like. They did have a fancy bottle, but, I don't like wine in too good looking bottles. Too often the wine is wrong then.

So went for the cheapest German Liebfraumilch. It will do.

And they did not have a decent goat cheese. Should have tried at the market yesterday, but did not have enough money then.

You wouldn't have wanted them 2 nights ago. The oldest didn't sleep the entire night. Literally, stayed up from 5am until 11am the following day. So yours truly was also up for those hours. He came close to being put in a box marked "free to a good home" :P

I always had the option to trade them for the two goldfish of my brother. But they died in a tragic accident. So, can't do the trading anymore.

Yet, those goldfish would never never lay down to sleep (ok they did a while ago, but that was not waht I meant ), and never never sit still, so, probably for the best that I can't swap them and my girls.

They'd get a dx right away. So, would feel a bit like family. Obsessive swimming in circles. And muteness. Averse to body contact. And comortbidly selfdestructive. They jumped out of the bowl. Both on the same day.

It sounds like fun.

I agree this site has been sort of empty. I've been waiting for an important package from the US (cos they do lots of cool things and I still order from there every now and then) and it's stuck in customs. Apparently things can wait for weeks in customs, specifically in Coventry. The day before my package arrived in London, and now it's in Coventry. Yay.

Was looking up people who had challenged delivery companies for charging import tax and a fee by the courier on top (varies from £8 upwards, the fee alone). There was this awesome guy who happened to be autistic, and had a fighting spirit about him that I greatly admired. He managed to get the tax back along with the fee, challenging them that he was not VAT registered, therefore he was not legally required to pay. IOW, ParcelForce the courier was not VAT registered or something, and they force people to pay import tax still, just so they can charge them big admin fees. It's disgusting, really.

I usually manage to ask sellers to mark the value down (I don't give a crap about legality) and that works. But this seller I trusted to do that as they had before. So I might get charged, might not. Hoping for the latter.

Now, wasn't that entertaining? I do my research. Going to look into it some more tomorrow.

It isn't raining here, toasted marshmallows on a bonfire sure would be good though. What drinks do you have?

You're in Coventry , now?

Me too.

I used to work at Parcelforce, loading those big articulated trucks, occasionally unloading them,  or just shunting parcels from A to B by various means  in their humungous warehouse . It was heavy work and the company are -rightly- notorious for being slavedrivers.   So i'm not too unhappy that my working days are over  :)

And, yeah, I've got stung pretty badly , too, for import duty plus those other unbelievab;e  charges , on parcels that were held up at the customs office there. The worst is, you can't pay over the phone. You have to come in, pay in person, and collect your parcel.   So . you're not even getting the bloody thing deliverered for all that extra cash you're forkng out. Total swizz.

Oh no, I'm in a home county. My point was that it arrived from the US into London, much nearer me, and then was sent all the way to Coventry for effing customs.

I remember seeing that programme about multimillionaires where the owner of this parcel delivery company supposedly had no idea how bad it was for the worker delivering parcels and sorting them in this warehouse. He worked undercover in his own company at the bottom. He was fired after a day. Those programmes annoyed me, like of course those at the top don't realise how bad it is at the bottom.  >:( Yeh, right! Sucks that you had to do that kind of work.

To send someone to Coventry is an English idiom meaning to deliberately ostracise someone. Typically, this is done by not talking to them, avoiding someone's company, and generally pretending that they no longer exist. Victims are treated as though they are completely invisible and inaudible

Looks like the definition needs updating to include parcels.  :green:
I suppose that we'd better find somewhere else to chat now.  it's no longer Friday night, not anywhere in the word, and the party is well and truly over *sigh*

Actually i was just looking for any  old post of yours, so in could thank you for returning Jack's karma  to zero for me. Dunno if you noticed, but i was the idiot who forgot  she hates positive  karma and plussed her  . That's happened a few times now.  She's gonnna start think i'm deliberately getting on her nerves, isn't she?  :hide: But I 'm just forgetful, that's all.

Ha! I learnt something new today, thanks. So I guess it's just a synonym in sentence form for giving someone the silent treatment.

Oh, no worries about the karma. Maybe use this post? I just figured it out because others do the same. I wonder why Jack doesn't like it. I assume she does not like negative karma either, just wants a balance of 0.

I can't imagine having a black ceiling. I wouldn't like it. :zombiefuck:

It's not really about the number, but yes zero is important, because if karma should happen, returning it to zero makes it less likely for me to know it. Not really sure why those creepy little karma messages twist me up; they just do. There's also some weird intolerable pressure of the karma system; should I give them karma back, how little is too little for someone else, how much is too much, and what does this mean to them? There's the option to be karma free here, keeping a member at zero. Tried that once long ago, but then realized it's based on maxing out both my negative and positive karma with admin action. This action put me as top ranking in both negative and positive karma stats for the board and some members didn't like that, so I stopped being karma free and members are kind enough to keep me that way. SG called it mutual love.

Neither can I really...but Pinterest + wine = bad decisions.

I'm striving for the look of acoustical tile without the price. What I have is a poorly fitted drop ceiling, mis-matched ceiling tile, patched, pink tinged walls, some wallpaper, and some paint from the clearance aisle.

The laundry room looks like a total shit storm, whole room needs redone.

Creepy? I view positive karma as compliments. Can't get enough of them.

IQ, surely that would darken the room and make it look more closed in. Plus that particular ceiling looks like one you'd have in an office.

The home I grew up in had a white drop ceiling like in an office. They're also sometimes found in basements. Judging from the window, that photo is a basement.

Huh, maybe it's an American thing. I have never been inside a basement in the UK, so I wouldn't know what they typically looked like.

Suspended ceilings in basements are an easy way to hide the wiring and piping in the flooring of the upper level, while also allowing easy access to them for repair.

Exactly what it's hiding...they are also normally ugly as hell, unless you can afford the nicer ceiling tile.

My home is what I believe is considered a raised ranch style, the main entry level is the basement.

Wouldn't it be easier to stick black wallpaper or something like that on each tile?

Get it high gloss. And then Christmas lights poking through. Or some tiles not black but mirrors.

Just go for black. If it does not work out, drink more wine and wrap every tile in tinfoil.

That's cool. When I bought my current house, I painted the boys ceiling in a dark navy blue and covered it with glow in the dark stars. The stars eventually came down but the ceiling colour stayed and my current agent kind of hated me for it because apparently it was a bitch to cover up and make white again.

Tried that first.
Wrinkle city and it wouldn't stick.
Tried paste, tried spray adhesive and fabric.... :P

I had spares and have been trying stuff for awhile. They are that textured compressed cardboard shit.

I've been looking at these ugly mis-matched SOB's since the early 90's when my dad put them up. They really need tossed to the curb, but that's not on the menu right now. Words cannot express my undying love for drop ceilings.
