Both of the above suggestions are polar opposites of each other. Which side of the responsibility spectrum do you inhabit?

I have never heard of a stimulus cheque.

If I had $600 I would invest it.

I hate it when people get money, blow it, then whine about being poor.

It's Georgie Boy's silly little plan to help 'stimulate' the economy, hence 'stimulus check'

I don't recall ever whining about being poor.

Congratulations, Jman.

I'm not talking about you, Jman, but some people cry about not having enough money to buy bare necessities, like insulin for a diabetic, for example, then spend their money unwisely when they get any.  I mean, it is their money and their life, but then why involve other people?  I knew someone who was like that, who always would ask my mother for insulin because they had run out and had no money to buy any, then they would spend a fortune redecorating a few weeks later.  I lose sympathy for people who continually do stuff like that.

Huh. I didn't know what this was about, but I got a letter about it too today. Haven't seen a check yet, but the concept actually made me feel patriotic, for all of about five minutes. Makes me want to do something with it that actually would stimulate the economy, like invest it in my freelance work.

True. But is it really stimulating anything to give it to people, then? If the government spent it on extra binders for clerks or something, I don't see how that would be different for the economy than TV's.

It also buys votes.

Must be a world wide thing, we get something similar, like 600 for each kid you have or something, for the last number of years...

Yeah, I know it buys votes, but I was wondering whether it was effective as an economic decision. I know jack shit about economics but I'm curious.

Probably. I have a feeling it has to do with people maybe feeling its like free money, so they view it differently and are more likely to spend it rather than save it and view it as their hard earned cash when in reality it kinda is, cos that money came from taxes etc...

Sometimes stupid shit like that actually has some smarts behind it.
