...if i will lose a tooth?
the gum is swollen around the tooth or a coupla teeth and it bled when i brushed. waaah. i really don't want to go to a dentist. can i take care of it myself or will that cost me teeth? :( i dunno what to do. i can't even call to make an appointment. is it lame to let my mom do it?
i will start drinking OJ and brushing my teeth and slushing with that blue stuff and taking vitamins and stuff.
-
I've had a little swelling before - hopefully yours will pass. are your teeth generally pretty hard? I haven't been to a dentist in over 12 years myself but I have teeth like granite - I have a little decay on one tooth and a wisdom tooth I got early this year rotted immediately cos it doesn't bite on anything and picks up crap, so when I finally go I'll need two fillings. I figure I got off lightly.
-
It might just be something irritated it when you ate last I get like that after eating Chinese food if I don't floss right away. I also never get away without blood when I brush never did :(
-
its not lame to let your mom do it. my mum does all mine, she even comes in the room with me lol
it could be gum disease if it bleeds when you brush it - keep brushing it though even if it bleeds, including the gum, instead of just brushing the tooth itself. i used tog et that when i was younger and didnt brush my teeth enough. its nothing serious, it just is a pain in the arse because it can hurt when you brush it until it goes. i think you should go to the dentists anyway though and they can tell you what to do to get it better
-
my teeth are normal tough i think lol. :orly:
i haven't been to a dentist in a decade. i should though, i have some bacterial stuff on one tooth and now this. all the years of mistreating my body are just slapping me in the face. i have never had swelling before. ???
i never floss, Parts. :( my teeth are squeezed so tight, the string wouldn't probably get between my teeth or out of there. i didn't eat anything weird today. i ate tuna steak and that was new.
-

i'm glad i'm not the only one. :) my mom goes with me places. like to get my glasses. i used to go to the doctor alone in finland cuz i had to get pills and i didn't tell mom every time i went. but here i'm scared. the systems are different. i'm scared to even go with her. :( i guess i'll get her to call if i decide to go.
i hope they wear gloves. if they don't i'll have to tell the dentist to wear gloves and they might get mad. lol. why are things always so hard for us?
i brushed the gum lots cuz i read somewhere or heard the gum needs stimulation or something so the gums are supposed to be brushed. i was thinking it needed attention. but then it bled lol.

Phoning, anywhere or for any reason, is one of my most despised tasks. You are very lucky if your mom can do it for you.
I try to avoid all phoning, partly because I feel stupid because of a mild delay in processing dialog over the phone, but mainly it just causes me a lot of stress.
A couple of months ago I had to spend hours on the phone unraveling a problem with our insurance. It was a horrible day. Don't feel bad about it.
Let her call for you.

i think they will wear gloves, they do here, and i think they have to so hopefully they will
they said to me to brush the gums a lot, i dunno why but apparently it helps get it better :-\
-
I get my wife to make all those appointments :-[
i think they will wear gloves, they do here,
Oh boy the wonderful taste of latex :eh:
-
i actually like the taste of latex. :orly:
it's great your wife can do it. hooray for moms and spouses.

cool thanks for telling me, i will try to brush the gums more. :) lol i will brush after every meal from now on. i'm afraid to eat anything.

I use interdental brushes. They're much better than floss, and you might be able to get them in at the base of the teeth if it's the crowns that are crammed together. They don't last me long, unfortunately. I use the thinnest ones, and they usually break after about 5 minutes of me using them, so it can be expensive, but they're great for clearing up gum infections.

thanks Pete, i'll look into that. :) :orly:
what i'm afraid of is getting something stuck there. like a piece of string.

That would be jumping the gun, at this point. Neither of them has ever used a telephone, except to talk to their granndmother, while I listten in and prompt them to resspond verballly.

I uise those, tooo, but they do not get beloww the gumline and deep into the areas with not enamel as well as floss.
They are the best for betweeen your teeth, though. It is the little cities that the bacteria builds over night that are the most danger to your gums. The cities are easily wiped away on areas which are protected by enamel. Wait until you have lost some gum and have exposed root areas with no enamel.
... ever heard the term, "long in the teeth?"
-
yikes.
-
yikes.
To answer your question, you really should go to the dentist, Milla.
The swelling could be the beginning of an abscess and worse things than losing a tooth could happen.
-
it went away though. :o
-
it went away though. :o
Cool, I'm glad that it got better.
How swollen was it before?
Did you get a bad taste in your mouth just before it went away?
-
Flossing is REALLY important,
if you don't want teeth like
mine. At your age, you shouldn't
be having this problem.
And do go for a cleaning, if you
give a shit. DAs can get stuff out
that you can't, with their equipment.

i'm glad that someone understands what I was trying to say.

i got listerine and toothpaste that has mouthwash.
it was average swollen Callaway. i dunno how swollen without a previous experience to compare to. i detected no taste. i tasted blood after it bled but only a tiny amount. yum. :orly:

i have too tight teeth. it seems impossible.
i'll think about the dentist if i survive the move.

Blood is good. Rancid, stale, dark colored pus would be bad.
This is the bad taste Callaway is talking about.
Blood, even dead blood as an effluent, means that the infection was controlled by your immune system. If it had become impacted with a smelly, rank puss, it would mean more trouble and that the infection was not yet under control.
Listerene has been recommended as the best anti bacterial agent, for your mouth, by every hygienist and periodontist I have tried. I hate it, but supposedly, it is the strongest, safe anti-bacterial.
-
ok thanks, that's good to know. :)

Understands. Still doesn't bother.
I was pretty good, for a while,
but stopped flossing again.
-
i have too tight teeth. it seems impossible.
Me too, in some places.
Get the flossing tools,
they make it MUCH easier.
-
it's a wraith thing. :orly:
-
it's a wraith thing. :orly:
Wraiths are probably supposed to have funky teeth.
-
defo. they're funkadelic.
-
I'm going to the dentist tomorrow.
I expect many cavities.
-
i thought they were supposed to help you get rid of them. not give you some.
-
FIRST, they have to give them to you. :dankesh:
-
then they take them awaaay! :dankesh:
-
they gave me nine cavities :-[
-
WHOLLY FUCKING SHITH!!!
SHITHH!!
I grew up in a time and culture where people did not do doctors unless they had an accident with bones and guts exposed and shit.
My parents were being overly pro-active by taking their teenaged son to a dentist for the first time.
I had never seen a dentist, in fifteen years, and I only had three cavities.
Nine is going to be "fun" .......
-
ow wow.
-
I need to get myself to a dentist in the new year, if I can find an NHS one. I haven't been in about 13 years, and I have a fucked up wisdom tooth, half of which snapped off at the gumline last week. I guess it should come out. *wince*
-
WTF is wrong with us? :-\

Sounds like me. I've got to get every one of them out.
Keep breaking, little by little.

How can you stand the smelll?
-
How can you stand the smelll?
Usually, it's not bad. Probably I'm covering it
up with the pipe though. But, even in the morning,
there's nothing noticeable to me. Which is completely
different from the one time that I had a problem tooth
before. But, I brush and floss pretty heavily, especially
back there.

If you have a molar with exposed, decomposing dentine, you are probably leaving a wafting trail.
That is one way I could always tell when "Dave" had been in the office, even four or five hours later. He had a severe problem with his rear molars and I could barelly talk to him without re-acting to the winds of his dying teeth. The telltale smell lingered for quite some time.
Just go get it fixed. You're gross.
:D
-
 i didn't know there was a smell if teeth were broken. :toporly:
-
 i didn't know there was a smell if teeth were broken. :toporly:
It's the decay, which usually causes them to break in the first place, that smells. Little colonies of bacteria continue rampantly reproducing, just minutes after brushing, etc.
When I had a bad molar, I could actually suck battle weary blood out of my dying tooth anytime I tried. I really had no idea how seriously the thing was affecting my overall immune system, either.
My Neo impression was not working.
:neo:
-
I suspect the smell (and taste) of my pipe
is sufficient to prevent it from being noticed.
I DO get a taste, every now and then. Mainly,
it's just the blood that I taste. It probably is
making me less healthy, overall. I just assume that
they'll take care of themselves though.
-
you could have a heart attack. dude go to the dentist. :-* /says the coward.
-

You are probably right, except for those instances when you encounter another person with a nose for blood.
As Milla says, just GO.
Even my joints, tendons, sinuses and old injuries felt better a couple of weeks after it was out.
-
my nose smells blood. i love blood.
i am a bloodhound.

I've BEEN to the dentist.
It's the damned surgery I'm
not up for.
my nose smells blood. i love blood.
i am a bloodhound.
See? The smell of blood wouldn't
bother me. The rotting smell would.
-
surgery??? aaaaaaa you need to get it.
-
My mom tells me that the aliens imbued
us with healing powers.
-
what aliens does she believe in? :P you *could* ask for the pleiadians or sirians to help you but i suspect they be busy fighting bush. :P
-
The one's in the UFO that we saw.
She's convinced that it was an alien ship.
I think it was just a manifestation of mine.
-
if you saw it too it probably was a ship. :)
-
LOTS of people saw it.
But, I was young, and
perhaps more powerful.
-
it was a ship.
-
goddamn, how do people floss their back teeth
-
(http://z.about.com/d/dentistry/1/0/R/HPIM6993.JPG)
I use something smaller,
but they prevent you from
cutting up your hands trying.
-
goddamn, how do people floss their back teeth
I just use my damn fingers. I floss all of my teeth daily. You don't have to use what Cal pictured either.
-
Dentists are the spawn of Satan
-
I tend to practice home dentistry.
-
i practice nuttin dentistically. :toporly:
-
I tend to practice home dentistry.
All you need is a Dremal tool and some mirrors :o
-
I have picks, mirrors, forceps (my favorite set
disappeared though).
-
maybe i should get some dentistry quips.
-
Useful for cleaning.
Can't really pull my own teeth.
Plus, I'd need a jackhammer to
get the wisdom teeth out.
-
I have picks, mirrors, forceps (my favorite set
disappeared though).
I have all that stuff too but not for dentistry for fixing and cleaning things
-
I only use the picks, on my teeth
(though we picked the best one
up for my wife's archeology). The
forceps are mainly for my games.
The mirror is just damned useful,
to find things that have fallen.
-
people used to tie teeth to doorknobs and then slam the door and then be pulled with the door and realize it was a bad idea.
-
i dont understanad how people can tie their teeth to something. how do you tie something to your tooth? i couldn't tie some string round my teeth i dont think
-
only could work with the front ones,
I think. Plus, they'd have to be close enough
together that you might end up loosening
others.
-
not everyone has tight teeth. people who can floss can tie it to their teeth.
-
But it would SLIP.
-
:(
-
loose teeth slit lips.
-
slit lips.
-
Need licking.
-
yum yum blood. :zoinks:
-
Only for a few days though,
normally they're not.
-
*dances in your court*
-
*gibbers unintelligibly*
-
*dances with purple squid ball*
-
We need the piper. I can't remember his name though.
-
billie piper.
-
That's bilge pumper,
and wrong avies.
-
no bilbo baggins either.
-
(http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/4/7/7/1/1/webimg/92180853_tp.jpg)
-
what is that?
-
A bilbo, of course.
-
at least not a dildo.
-
You could use it as such,
if you're into pain.
-
not that kinda pain. :zoinks:
-
Consider it an extreme form of
cutting.
-
You should not fear the dentist....you should fear the dentists bill :o
Well my top wisdom teeth are being a bitch they are cutting through the skin.
the tops hurt more than bottoms. I had a bottom wisdom tooth pulled out and a kept it and made an earing out of it in shop class.

i don't want to cut down there. :P just my arms mainly. i could do that with the sword.
-
Sword cuts are more fun when
someone else does them to you.
-
possibly, though i don't want to get pierced. :toporly:
-
Slash, not stab.
-
slashing i can do. 8)
-
Plus, I usually only get injured with
fencing sabers, and seldom actually
cut. More often, just welts.
-
I got a really good electric toothbrush for xmas. It's got an interdental and a polishing head, and my teeth feel smooth now, like they do after a visit to the dentist.
-
What brand?
-
Oral-B.
-
Thanks, peter.
-
yw.
-
Do you know this,
or was that just a guess?
I'm not too impressed with
oral-b, but I haven't used one
for a few years.
-
i know it. Pete posted a picture. ;D
-
It's an Oral-B Professional Care 9900 Triumph, to be specific.
-
Bother. I was hoping to find something
I hadn't tried. My dad uses one that he likes,
but it makes a high pitched noise I can't deal
with. I have a rota-dent that was pretty good,
but it died, and was VERY expensive.

Hmm...looks different. Might seek one out.
