Someone still needs to add the "edit own posts" permissions to guests on this board.

If we did that, any guest could edit any other guest's post, couldn't they?

And pragmatism conquers the day.

Oh, that would be fucking hilarious.
We need the right to all edit one another's
posts. This is even better than being able
to lock and unlock all topics.

Actually Callaway guests did used to be able to edit their own posts- I assume the software remembers their IP addy.

Are you sure that only the person who posts can edit it? Look at the second post in the thread. It says that it was last edited by Eamonn!

The second post down isn't a real guest post- its one that peaguy made as a member, it shows up as a guest post because he deleted his account. Real guest posts have the little envelope under the name (because they have to enter an email addy to make a guest post), ones that were made by members who later deleted their accounts don't have that.
I think perhaps peaguy had changed his screen name to 'Eamonn!' when he edited that post. The name on the 'last edited by' text stays as the screen name they were using at the time, rather than reverting back to their original screen name. Check out the posts on the first page of peaguy's ask away thread to see what I mean: http://www.intensitysquared.com/index.php?topic=2852.0 (http://www.intensitysquared.com/index.php?topic=2852.0)

maybe guests should preview their posts before submitting them

Let's test this theory.
I'll make a post and see if I can edit it but nobody else can.
I can't edit any other posts as guest, so far, so good. Now let's see whether I can edit this.
I can edit my own post, but unfortunately I could modify all guest posts in this thread as well, if I wanted to, as a guest.
maybe guests should preview their posts before submitting them
I think that this would be best.
test

tested - using a different IP I was unable to modify posts, but with my own (admin enabled) IP I could. I think that explains it Callaway.

OK, if you are sure, I'll put back the edit button for guests.
I had just removed it.

thanks.
