Post by: Peter on August 30, 2007, 07:16:31 PM: I've been quite absorbed in it for the past couple of days; it's pretty slow paced, and not very complex, but it's got an addictive quality to it. I've not gotten to the point yet of building up armies and raiding my neighbours for resources and building an empire, but it should be interesting when I do.

It's all fords in this game, and there's no tax; just raw production.

I got attacked by someone half my size, captured 20 of the 30 guys he sent with no losses, and demanded a ransom for their release. He then joined an alliance of about 8 players, and now one of them is attacking me and trying to release the troops of the other guy. Meanwhile I'm going to slaughter the troops that got away, then release the troops I'm holding, rebuild my traps, trap the incoming troops and kill the ones I released once they get back home. It helps that I'm playing it with a rather interesting and reasonably local girl who I'm hitting it off with quite nicely.

You can usually get it and the expansion pack in the good 2 for one cheapie bins at any good games retailer. Age of Empires 2 is out at the moment which is (of course) the next one along and is set during the colonisation of america. Age of Kings is medieval europe.

Post by: Gluey on September 04, 2007, 05:33:02 PM: It's like age of Empires almost identical I'll have to try this. I remember when I played that I had to kill other people because the other teams were using up all the recourses.

Kind of like the whole Oil issue nowadays in real life. I had to kill everybody else for mining all the rocks. There wasn't enough rocks and gold.
