Title: Maldoror calls out Ahayes
Post by: maldoror on July 17, 2007, 07:00:16 PM
I don't dislike you on a personal level and you might have potential to be a worthwhile person if you can get over being reactionary. That being said, I would like to ask that a) please stop flogging the karma system. Not only does your blissfully collected cache of negative points pretty much ruin the system for all of us by making any two people with positive karma seem like they're on the same level because neither of them is you, but you've been consistently gheying me over posts I made weeks ago (apparantly) and it's annoying, and b) Don't do assheaded things like fucking accuse the admin of having "room temperature IQ" for trying to keep minors away from chicks with dicks porn. That's lame, man.

What constant does Phi represent, I thought it was a function in stats.
Is there any reason you like 3, is it its proximity to pi and e? And what level of relations would you have with it?

Phi is the golden mean. Shows up in a lot of places,
natural and man made. Makes a lot of geeks hard.

3 has just always been there for me.
My imaginary friends where all abstract
shapes, and the triangle was the best.
Fits in well with my ideas of relationships,
as well as with many other mystical concepts.

Not sure that I could have carnal relations
with a number, but I do love it.

Oh the psychosis, you have spent longer in that society than me, so that should particually explain. As for buildings moving, you sure you are not dazed at all, or is a neuropsychological problem you have always had?

Something I call shifts.
The whole world seems
to be in a strange state.
In this case, a building was
not where it belonged, for
about a month. It returned,
during another one.

Other things have changed too.
Money, for example. But I remember
how it USED to be.

Funny thing is, the shifts happen
pretty often, but I don't always see
the effects. What I do notice is that
OTHER people seem really dazed during
them too. They just never seem to remember
things changing.

That's my skeptical way of looking at it.
But, it doesn't really matter, since
I believe in subjectivity, to an extreme.

I liked programming since I was fairly young.
It's not like there aren't fuzzy areas of CS, and
that's kinda where I tend. Places where it's not
necessarily clear just WHAT is going on.

Oh right I assume you studied the theoretical side rather than the applied side of CS then, or at least largely that way. That explains how you get quirks like that...

Of course. I can barely operate a computer.
Hence the theoretical math, as well.
Though language theory really threw
me for a loop - but I think that was
the professor, more than anything.

Hmm, the maths side is really intresting, ive studied a little bit of it at A-level. I actually (strangly for a mathematician) want to learn to program a computer properly as a first priority. I so want to be able to hack for some reason...

Not all that strange. When I first
got into it, many schools didn't have
CS departments, and programming,
where taught, was often through the
Math departments.

Given that the fundamentals of programming
were developed by logicians, and real ones
tended to be mathematicians first, it makes
sense.

Not sure about the hacking though. Always
struck me as the sys ad types who liked that.

My husband has similar interests.  He has a math Ph.D. and he taught himself to program computers when he was twelve years old.

I know the maths story, they still have modules you can take in it i believe under maths departments when i looked, and i did Discrete maths as a maths applied at A-level. As far as hacking goes, it would be nice to be able to do it, i assume programming ability is needed to do it...

Depends on what you mean by hacking.
It's original use meant quick fixes. Usually
by real programmers, and usually pretty
damned ugly. Now though, people seem
to have taken it up to mean what was once
more known as 'cracking'. I suspect that one
doesn't need a lot of coding skills to really manage
that - more recognizing some low level patterns.
Though, apparently there's software out which
helps with this, even.

This isn't an argument, this is a list of stupid demands.

You're the only one who seems to think they're stupid. Why do you think so?

I'm the only one who thinks they're stupid because I'm the only one who thinks.

Yup. That's it exactly. Everyone is telling you you're being a dick (probably just like IRL), but it's obviously everyone else that's wrong, like always, because you're you and you piss golden sunshine.

Haha, ok.

The people here probably don't want another autistic kid to feel picked on, so I think if you let this one go, they should give you another chance. But you shouldn't take criticism personally, especially since everyone criticizes everyone here to teach each other to cope with it. Also, you should probably stop gheying everyone for no reason.
