As mah esteemed colleague Mr. NaziSheep pithily commented, we don't like being lab rats. We drove off the last person who tried to use us as subjects. Mind you that's cos she was a condescending twat. You're not a condescending twat are you?  :police:

Welcome to Intensity2.

What kind of research in autism?

going to start by growing up a mutant clone of mice that have a particular mutation that causes variation in post synaptic hippocampal plasticity which is also observable by it's behavioral phenotypes (which are similar to autistic pehontypes [aka-displays, expressions] in humans and other model organisms)

basically... im gonna be testing the cognitive abilities of autisitc mice... and then slicing their brains open to see what's going on there.... it's the molecular gap between phsyiology and behavior.

the hippocampus is involved in a lot of apsects that are linked to autism and NVLDs.... particularly spatial learning and episodic memory

the particular mutation i will be looking at will hopefully help to define the deveopmental timeline for identifying the best "intervention" time-window for treating kids on the spectrum.  that is my hope, at anyrate.

Hi Catrona.  Welcome to Intensity.  I hope that you are not an overly sensititive type of person.

I'm not saying that this is what you are doing, but anyone who treats us like experimental subjects will only alienate us.  It makes no difference to me whether a person has an ASD or not or whether or not he or she has any sort of diagnosis at all, as long as he or she treats us as equals instead of laboratory animals.

I'm a cross-over from WP.... anything i do noobishly..... blame it on calandale!

That rather implies that things happen that we DON'T blame on Calandale...

As it should be.
But, I'm trying to lessen
the amount of things which
I should be blamed for.

Ugh, this gives me the shivers.
I am thankful I am not an autistic mouse.

Oh, and to follow up that question: Why the fuck do you talk to us as if we're one of your lab buddies? Just talk like a commoner, for fuck's sake.

what do you mean?

someone asked about my research... i told them.  that's about all i said about my lab buddies.  that and just now when someone asked about my dx

and i talk how i talk.................. lol

I'm just bored at the fact that people are desperate to be acknowledged as some special human being. I fail to see autism as anything but that.

Not being negative, just don't see what the fuss is all about.
