A row boat. This one is very nice.

If I could I'd be purchasing myself a small volcanic island somewhere nice with quite a bit of land being ridiculously fertile. Lush and nice. Bring lots of good seeds of the plants I like too and be a fishing dude slash farmer. A proper seaworthy yacht to go there too, firstly.

Bit off, none realistic, I know.. but you said 'could'.. 'if you'..

Ah...volcanic islands tend to have very unique, sustainable ecosystems. If you did, I would suggest looking at some polynesian ship designs. They were successfully sailing the open ocean 1000's of years before europeans (according to lore).

You'll have to find a way to commute, and somewhere to live during the winter. If you neglect to maintain your home, it could sink. :shark:

That sounds nice too...or an island, or something up in the mountains...with a working still in back, or some good soil  :fly:.

Purely for experimental and medicinal purposes of course.

...and a hot tub with a good view...I'm not getting any younger here.

Folks from the tribes that taught colonists how to tap the trees still do it every winter. If you befriend the right person, they might be able to show you how.

My dad did that one year when I was a kid...it's really pretty simple...but it takes a lot of sap to make syrup. I think we were lucky if we even ended up with a cup of it after the cooking process. We needed more trees.

MMMM yum QV. I love melons, especially watermelons, spritz a bit of lime juice over 'em, sliced, maybe add some canteloupe, and a wee bit of uber-spicy scotch bonnet chilli peppers, soak it up in the lime juice, and you have yourself a lovely spicy hot melon starter. Goes lovely with some sweet and sour tiger prawns fried with some sesame oil, honey, vinegar, lime juice and zest.

Try it, you will love it.

Saving up for a turbomolecular vacuum pump, and need to buy both some mercuric chloride and a fair quantity of metallic mercury, to build a mercury diffusion pump to run in series after the turbopump, and my regular rotary vane vac pump that I got in june as my last birthday gift to serve as a roughing pump to start the turbopump.

Need to build a cryotrap with some one-way valves to prevent suckback into the pump itself though, and to remove water vapor from the vacuum chamber of the cyclotron, cyclosynchrotron or better, isochronous cyclotron that I want to build.

Need funding for the magnet wire, lots and lots and lots of high purity copper, or better yet, if I can find a source of liquid helium, even go for superconducting magnet coils which would lower power requirements considerably, and not to mention, give me a hell of an improvement over simple copper, or even highly conductive silver wire in terms of sheer tesla/gauss beefage.

Also need to buy a high-torque petrol driven motor to build, and run a big van de graaf generator for use juicing up the longed-for particle accelerator (and of course before wiring it up to said device, making some cool meter-long or even longer high voltage sparks to play with :autism:)

A hatchet.

I'm going to buy one eventually, but I have to wait until I get to a flea market...trying not to buy anything brand new, but instead opt for used and surplus items...and local if possible. I figure it might offset some of the damage of the coal burners or rollers or whatever tf they're called.

SPEAKING OF WHICH- on my way to the old mans house the other day on my bike I had ANOTHER asthma attack. The effect of morning rush hour traffic congestion... I couldn't even work up a decent sweat...I had been enjoying the extra muscle from biking...but not that morning. Stopped midway up a hill I could normally scale with some panting...and then had to walk very slow to the bus stop (slumped over my bike breathing hard). >:(

A MASSIVE capacitor bank, a semiconductor fabrication setup.

Lots and lots and lots and lots more glassware. Turbomolecular vacuum pumps x2, a spare standard vac pump, and I'd go on a long and extensive shopping spree with my chemical suppliers, buying out most of her stock.

Perhaps because pethidine has additional dopaminergic effects, ren. Plus its metabolite, norpethidine is toxic,in an excitatory, proconvulsant manner.

Still, its in my top three opioids I'd want to try, along with dipipanone and ketobemidone. And as a runner-up, levorphanol, which has additional NMDA antagonist (dissociative, hopefully) properties. Dipipanone sounds like it might be especially appealing, as an analog of methadone, another opioid with (in methadones case albeit moderately and only becoming apparent at higher doses, such as require a pre-existing tolerance to tolerate sufficient levels for those secondary effects to become apparent)

Dipipanone is very seldom prescribed here anymore, but has one hell of a reputation, enough to make it worth my considering for a future project once I get the current lot off my plate, so to speak.

Ren-I'd love to switch my breakthrough pain med to pethidine or indeed any opioid bar the really weak ones or meptazinol (rips my  insides to shreds OW OW OWWWWW!)  I really, really do NOT get why oxycontin etc is so sought after in the US. Yes, I'd sooner have OC80s than experience physical morphine withdrawal, but duration aside i'd sooner have codeine, even.

Only met one person that liked it you mean? I am not surprised. Apparently in the US the 80s go for $1 a mg, which is absolutely mental IMO. I want to change breakthrough meds if I can because I borderline find it almost dysphoric.

I really want me a rotavap. One that will integrate a dry ice condenser. A Kugelrohr would be nice too (its for bulb-to-bulb short path distillation, can improvize for atmospheric pressure but don't have the stuff to do SPD at low pressure.

On the up hand I DID find some glass intended for bongs, thats pyrex and ground glass jointed, got myself a bump trap (for reflux using a condenser usually, it does on the top, and any sudden upsurge hits the rounded sides and slides back down, ideally that is.

^I have only ever met one person who too oxycontin. She took it for back pain. I know it is a controlled drug here in Australia.

I would purchase air conditioning for my tiny unit. Summer sucks here.
when i broke my sternum i was on 80mg oxycontin a day with 2mg dilaudid as needed every two hours for breakthrough pain. got off it as quickly as i could. nasty stuff.

Which, wolfy, or both? I've heard quite good reports about hydromorphone. And very good ones about oxymorphone, but oxycodone strikes me, and even a guy that used to be/still somewhat is kind of a smackhead, who scored a load of the stuff, complained about it that he didn't like it, well no more than it helped him stay well.

I doubt I'd find it addictive really, other than physically, were it the first and only opioid I had tried/was on. But when I was getting the oxy 80s at least one doc has given me some odd looks because I not only told them i vastly prefer morphine and to be switched to it, and before i got that done, because i went in the very next day after being scripted fentanyl begging for the oxy back instead because that was worse.  Neither are QUITE the bottom of the barrel as far as I am concerned, that would be meptazinol or tramadol. Tramadol is just ew, and i can't tolerate meptid unfortunately, (would have been interesting to study it properly in more detail than i did analog and derivatization wise but it RIPS my insides to pieces or feels like it. Like drinking acid.

I wouldn't say "slim" per se, but I am not stocky. I am about 5'9'' (maybe a little less) and wear a 34 waist...Not sure what that translates to, but its slim-ish. I do have a gut though.

Not sure if I've posted a photo, and probably not a full body length shot.

I have a couple of slim-fit business shirts that my wife bought because they were heavily discounted.

For some reason there is not a huge demand for slim fit business shirts for people my height and build. Who knew?

I want to buy a Golden Retriever puppy. They are crazy expensive here, like $3K.

I would also like to buy a proper greenhouse for the backyard. So that I'd always have fresh herbs and spices for cooking. The greenhouse I have now is tiny, just big enough to keep my chilli plants alive through the frosts over winter.

Reverse cycle air conditioning. So we would have heat in the winter and cooling in the summer. Currently we have neither. I'm more bothered by it in the summer though. Bed is the warmest place now.

New Cubs caps with different designs...

almost making sure that they're 8.5 inches (there is a site that sells them... just they're out of stock with my size a lot)

Also, I already got what I wanted for my birthday that's coming up soon... I found a film that is out of print that I'm interested in.

An earlier Wong-Kar Wai from 1994 called Chungking Express.

That sounds easier than regular knitting. I've tried the regular way multiple times and I keep dropping stitches, I'm terrible at it.

I'd like to buy Mum a Mother's Day present but I don't know what.

I am off to purchase a sleeping bag onesie at Aldi. It's one of those sleeping bags with arms and legs that you can walk around in.

My wife already has one. I expect it to save us a couple of hundred bucks (at least) in heating costs. My kids and I don't need heating, we run hot even in winter, but my wife uses an electric fan heater a lot.

Also, shoes that bloody fit.

I bought 2 pairs of Adidas runners online. Size 14. Do they fit? No.

Now I have to return them. I should have some Asics trail runners arriving later in the week, in an extra wide fitting, they will hopefully be better.

It's much much easier. I can't knit the regular way to save my life for the same reason as you. The loom holds all the stitches in place and you can still make all the same things. Right now I'm using the infinity loom because I want to make a blanket but I've also got them in other shapes to make hats and scarves. There's only three kinds, this one, a circular one and a rectangular one. It's not very spendy considering you can get so much use out of it.

This is the one I'm using right now:

I gave up attempting to knit decades ago. Couldn't even knit little squares for a patchwork blanket, but they came out round. Yeah, round.  Seriously.
It's a bit of a relief to find out that there are other spazzes out there who can;t knit. I always seem to be running across spazzes who love knitting and proudly post pics of their awesome creations.  Ive even got one living upstairs from me, ATM. (Thanks for reminding me, Ms Fate, but I really didn't need that)  Makes me feel like a real spazz

Yeah I have exactly zero natural talent in this and I realized last night that I care less about finishing a project, I just find the repetitive actions soothing. So I basically just realized this is a socially appropriate stimming activity really.

Careful! Don't let your current car hear you talk like that. She/He might not it.

If you are into small cars, Honda and Toyota are also really good choices. Never drove one much myself, but have owned both over the years, having lived with a number of women before getting married for good.

My current car is medium sized and I've been driving it for 20 years. I feel like a change. I don't really want a small car but if someone offered me a sporty Mini I wouldn't say no. A Honda Civic would also be nice.
