Title: C'mon Michael Schumacher
Post by: bodie on December 30, 2013, 11:51:08 AM
Can't say I am a fan but Schumacher has been Formula 1 champion SEVEN times.

It would be tragic for him to die in a ski accident now.

Michael Schumacher is fighting for his life and it doesn't look too good.

Schumacher =  :viking:

Even I have heard of him, and I'm not into sports at all.

I hadn't heard of him, either. Perhaps it's an American thing? :dunno:

It did not occur to me when posting that American's do not follow Formula 1.   I have no idea who is NASCAR champion so i doubt you would know him anyway.

He dominated F1 for a decade.  I was never really a supporter of Schumacher because he is German.  I have to admit he is one awesome driver.

There were unsubstantiated rumours that he was one of Top Gear's Stig's.  Not sure if true, perhaps Odeon will know.

My all time favourite driver was Ayerton Senna. R.I.P.

I take an interest in racing cars,  used to follow my eldest brother who competed in Rally and was co driver in a Mitsubishi Evo.  He got quite far but acts as a steward now as he is an old fart.

The biggest sports in America are baseball, football (not soccer :P), basketball and hockey. In general, Americans will recognize common references to these. Link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Four_%28sports%29) It's currently late in football season and midseason in hockey and professional basketball. :)

You have forgotten the hoards of rednecks who enjoy NASCAR and monster trucks. I tend to prefer to watch the trucks myself :autism:, but do keep up with NASCAR from time to time.

Jimmie Johnson is the leader right now in NASCAR.

Hope he pulls through bodie.

I haven't forgotten; I didn't want to flood Bodie with too much American culture at once. 8)

I do not like the look of NASCAR tbh.  I think the big monster trucks that IQ mentioned look pretty entertaining.

NASCAR is entertaining but I do prefer F1.

Schumacher looks like he might spend the rest of his life as a vegetable.  :-/

If he is one now. Probably, but not many people actually know.

The fact that the Schumacher family is so quiet gives away the fact that he's not doing well.

It *suggests* that he is not doing well, but actual facts are scarce.
