CBC, it's time to boast and inspire. The thread is yours.

Thank you, dear cow! :hyke:
Today I am going to walk to and from work instead of taking cabs ($10 each way)
or buses ($1.50 each way). Walking/wobbling :cbc: = WINNING ! :hadron:

How is the walk? I used to find walking a great way to leave work related stress behind.

Count yourself even richer. You save out on the gym that you weren't going to, and you will save on things for your health, because you move more.

I saved petrol by leaving my Jag at the repair shop. :P

I couldn't walk to or from work today because this weekend's :snowing: :snowing: :snowing: has left most of the sidewalks
blocked and it's dangerous to walk out in the road near moving cars. I had to take the bus and spent $3.00 for the day.
On the up side, I did score some free food and coffee at work, and once the snow melts, it's walking time again! :cbc:

Semi either has a weird idea of the size of the Royal heads, or of the size of the Royal parts that will remain unseen. (Or of the size of both, of course)

They are King sized if you must know.
The parts that are unseen would make a large regal glare if exposed.
(Plus me if you get it.)

I brought home some more old leftover coffee from work today. :coffee:
And the generic brand single-ply :tp: I bought at PriceRiteTM really lasts!

I am also turning off unnecessary lights and unplugging unused appliances to save on electricty! :headbang2:
This is simple shit that turns all us who do into rockstars.
BTW, there is agreat deal of controversy over unplugging charging transformers for electronic devices when not needed.
Ask Odeon. He is a physicist and he is honest. He knows. Those things draw current, constantly. Do not bother unplugging everything all the time, BUT, get yourself a power strip/charging staion where all that stuff plugs in and charge it once a day, then turn off the power strip. While it seems insignificant to leave it going, Billions of us all leaving them all going, constantly, are not insignificant at all.

Thank you! The only chargeable thing I have is my phone, though. I'm old-fashioned! :prude:

My house is loaded with techshit.
We have three laptops, two desktops, four cellphones, three tablets (and another under the Christmas tree), two drills and a small screwdriver, a weed eater, an electronic piano, a pencil sharpener, weather monitor center, security system, camcorder and two digital still cameras all of which are battery powered and all of which need to be recharged if they are to be dependable. SO my idea of centralizing the charging station is impractical in my home, but for most it would NOT be.
This tech shit is in addition to the normal shit: the three HDTVs, three Bluray players, two network printers, two refrigerators and one deep freezer which all draw huge amounts of power, constantly, in addition to the water heater, lighting (now a few extra Christmas lights as well) and the air conditioner/heater system, range, coffee pot, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, two hair dryers, four electronic toothbrushes, including a Waterpic (both kids have braces!), air purifier, multiple area fans.
All these remain a draw on the power grid and some of them draw current constantly, such as anything computery or networky or comforty (air water, etc.).
I have a lot of work to do.
:o

I feel positively rural compared to you.
Electric: Central air and heat (the heater is a gas one though), gas water heater, lights, 1 desktop computer, 1 tablet, 3 TVs, 1 cell phone, land line phone with 2 phones, clothes washer and dryer (dryer uses gas), 2 clock radios, an electric weed eater, and 2 desk fans that we use occasionally. Between gas and electric we average about $100 to $125 a month for both.
-
I'm off to the bank now to deposit $200 of a $240 loan that was just repaid to me. With the remaining $40,
I will scoop up the best deals on household necessities at the various stores conveniently located on my bus line! :green:

Yup, they draw current. Not a lot, but like you say, if we all do it, it's not insignificant. Some of the energy will dissipate as heat but as a heating device, a charger is incredibly inefficient. The electromagnetic field that forms is even more pointless, though.

Today my boss gave me some new energy-efficient lightbulbs to use in my lamps at home. I'm gonna save money!

I also scored more free coffee and leftover food. 2014 will be a year of great savings! :green:

Yesterday I was longing for chocolate, so I did spend a little money ... I saw some three-day-only sales
on chocolate chips and chocolate ice cream and got them very cheaply. It pays to watch the sales! :dollar:

I continue to bring home free stuff from work (my leftover food, my semi-used napkins from
lunch, old coffee when I can get it). Also, a resident gifted the kitchen staff with deodorant and other
toiletries, not that I smell bad  but now I don't have to buy new roll-on for awhile. Free stuff is good.

Hoover you give one push and then just kind of hold on to the handle. Cats are scared to death of it.
I need to find a Roomba.

A few days ago I got a free bus ride. I think the coin receptacle was out of order. There was a sign on top of it
that read "FREE." The driver pointed it out to me and I felt triumphant! I saved $1.50 and still got a ride! :2thumbsup:

Just tonight I called the cable company and downgraded to the cheapest plan. My old plan was costing me
$142.50 a month, my new one will cost only $79.29. That saves me about $62 a month, actually more because
prices are on the rise and my next bill would have been $146+. The customer service rep said to disregard it and
just pay the new low charge of $79.29, so I'll start saving immediately! Wonder what's on TV tonight! :tv:

We were able to get ATTUverse and bundle it with our existing phone and internet service. Got faster internet and saved about $20 per month for the next 2 years. Not that great, but we kept all our old channels (the ones that we like) and added a few that sounded interesting.
