This thread needs pretty pictures of India.

Just don't go into a Kali Temple.

I like the food too Richard. I know that India has some nice things to see, like the Taj Mahal, but the high crime rate and endemic abject poverty keep me from wanting to visit.

Indian food :zombiefuck:
One of my brothers dates an Indian woman and has been there twice, once with his two sons to go to a wedding and he stayed two weeks, one of his sons stayed a couple months. He commented mostly on the poverty saying the homeless here don't know how good they have it compared to the homeless in India and the insane drivers. My mother also went years ago to see the Taj Mahal which was one of her childhood dreams. Not sure if I would want to go looks like too many people for me and I hate Indian food.

The topic has gone as I expected. thanks everyone for your replys, 8)
While the poverty is staggering, the thing I noticed is almost all people from India are trying to pull themselves out of poverty. The thing I noticed is, a side effect of having a lot of people in your country and many of them being "poor" doesn't really have the same effect on, I h=guess what I'm trying to say is I didn't see too much class warfare in the videos that I watched, however I'm sure it exsits. When everybody is poor there really isn't anything to stick your nose up at.
Those people will work in waste deep shit for a dollar. (or rupee) as its called. it is admirable
Also, the women love gold. I think gold looks particularly good on brown skin, and the gold over there is a out of this world buttery color. I almost want to shove it up my ass its so visually pleasing.
I don't know, while I probably wont ever leave this place in my mind I often go to places like India. Another thing on culture, over there is how they handle the dead. I thought it to be fascinating. its all very public, death is a interesting thing to watch for in cultures. here for instance, its all very private. and they put make-up on the corpse, :zombiefuck:
So in totality, I like watching documentrys because well. I just do, :indeed:

Jaguar is owned by Tata Motors, an Indian company. :orly:

Nobody can pull off deadly accident like the fine people of India. Two cars crash? 14 dead and 28 to hospital. Idunno how they do it.
Ferry sinks? 100 dead, minimum.
Train crashes, whooo-wee, time to dig out a new cemetery.

Democracy

Democracy
I'm an American. Whats democracy?

I'm an American. Whats democracy?
Democracy is the act of having the masses decide what to do next with the geopolitical territory you are a member of. Democracy can be a sensible tool, in a utopia where everyone's educated, nobody's corrupt, and advertisements on tv are banned.
In any other scenario, democracy usually tends to lend itself mostly to the service of private entrepreneurian forces.
-
I think the original democracy some thousand years ago was better than "democracy" of today. I'm pretty sure that those who had citizenship in ancient Greece knew better how their country should be run than most people know today.

OH ok now its starting to sound familiar. So slavery, then. GUESS THAT MEANS EVERYTHINGS OK THEN CAUSE DEMOCRACY RIGHT GUISE?

Not sure if yelling at me or humanity :D
I don't _agree_ that democracy should serve private entrepreneurian forces, just for the record, I am just observing it, and mentioning it with a sarcastic calmness ;]

It's probably safe enough, if you think about it. Hold on tight, the train maybe goes at 50-70 kmph, if your in trouble theres plenty of people to reach you a hand. Fall off, and you'll roll around and go to the hospital, or even be fine, depending. Full on collisions are rare, even in shitty India :D
So for people w limited funds, clinging on to the train like this, is probably a daily routine that rarely ever causes much of a problem. Except when it crashes. And people explode into the air like a little halo of bodies w limbs.
-
You're not very safe inside a train either in case of a collision. So many people die in thoses crashes simply because so many people go by the trains.

One thing I give a lot of credit to is the sheer innovation and ability to get things done with what they have at hand in many third world countries.
