Quit throwing around the term narcissist carelessly, just because alex cares more about his image than he does wrong planet doesn't make him a narcissist, it may make him an asshole, but not every asshole is a narcissist. Narcissists are fairly extreme versions of normal vain people. You'll know em when you see em, they make you go "Wow." Like happeh is obviously insane, and by reading his crap you go, "Wow." Alex does not practice enough attention seeking behavior to qualify. Nor does he seem to suffer from being told he is a prick - narcissists can go into mini-depressions from being discouraged enough.

They do, I just care so much about my image I don't let on how concieted I am. And he may demonstrate many of those behaviors to some degree, but plenty of "normal healthy" people exhibit them to some degree. His behavior does not seem extreme enough to me to warrant a NPD dx. I could find some sources to plead my case, but unless you want me to, I'll just say based on textbook and video representations of narcissism he just doesn't strike me as one.
A lot of this feeling I get from his complete lack of being affected by negative critisism.

Narcissists can be affected by negative critisism. They don't always filter what is said to them through that. They can delude themselves into believing the occasional slight is just that person being jealous but enough of it will actually send them into a small depression. And Alex has seen more than a little negative critisism.

I think I have shown remarkable resilience in repelling your attacks (most of which I was not prepared for). Its very easy for you to sit there in your comfy position as admin of Intensity judging people "who can't take it" when you have got all your minions to do your dirty work for you. You may hate the priviledged classes, Dunc, but you sure do aspire to be part of them with that dictatorial and judgemental attitude of yours.

This is the important bit – Intensity² is not suitable for everyone. If you are sensitive, have issues with personal criticism, can't take back what you give out, or cringe at conflict, you're very unlikely to enjoy it here, and may regret joining. So don't whine later if someone hurts your feelings okay? We've warned you, and won't be held legally responsible if you do get your fingers burned.

nobody is to blame for the robertN situation, and this is not an admission of guilt. rather, it is a sign that intensity is willing to addapt with each new struggle we face. we are always willing to move forward. we do care about the well-being of the vulnerable future members. and this serves as an outright warning. hopefully, free thinking adults will be able to make up their own minds whether or not they fit the intensity way.

Lets just imagine a situation very different from the one at present.
Firstly, lets assume that I am the owner of Intensity and also moderator on a couple of other boards. You meanwhile are just a normal aspie posting on various boards. Then you have a disagreement on here with omega about something, and we use our influence to turn public opinion on the board against you.
OK, now you are in a position where the whole board has been fed propaganda about you and PI. Everyone hates you apart from PI. Then rumours start going around that PI is having an affair and is using you.
So, you are now in a situation where the whole board hates and mocks you, and you also have reason to distrust PI (your only friend at this point). You are now very short of friends, all because someone in an influencial position in the aspie community took a disliking to you.
How would you feel if that situation was real, Duncvis?
What would you do to get out of that situation?
Also consider that you would have a job or other activity during the day most days (like myself) which could add to the stress and means that you would only have a few hours in the evening to think through tactics, instead of all day which you currently have. Suddenly not looking so rosy, is it Dunc?
Just think about my situation (and indeed other peoples') before you complacently pass judgement as you do.

If you're incapable of growing a thicker skin, or even acting like anything resembling an adult, you should just fucking leave. Btw, in the hypothetical situation you describe, my handle on reality is a little firmer than yours. Personally, I just think he's smart, nothing more. The media highlight this crap to give people false hopes that if you're disabled, you can still make something of yourself. When will people realise that the world does not function around their meager human society?

I didn't even recognize the abuse until it started to get physical, which is common among victims of domestic violence. Our mutual friends could see it. I loved him up until the end when I realized. I thought he loved me, but I know now that he only loved controlling me. He liked to mess with my head and manipulate me emotionally to get what he wanted, and he was very, very good at it. He didn't hit me but I know it was coming if I had stayed.
The last straw was when he held me down on the bed. I tried to get away but I was weak from crying all night and fighting with him. I tried to wiggle away but he held me tighter. He held me down on the bed and softly stroked my cheek and said, "Katie I love you." Then he screamed in my ear, "YOU f***ing b***h I HATE YOUR f***ing GUTS!" Then he lightly touched my hair and kissed me sweetly, saying "I love you so much, Katie. Do you love me?" Then, one second later, " YOU'RE A f***ing c**t FACED b***h" . . .etc etc. This cycle repeated several times but I don't remember what happened after that. I stopped struggling. I was afraid he would kill me or rape me. I lied and said I loved him. I was compliant just to save myself. Somehow, I ended up by myself in the bed and he in the other room. I slept only a few hours, terrified he would wake up. I wanted to call the police but I knew they would just show up and then leave, and I knew he'd be really really angry. The next morning, he acted like everything was fine. I wanted to check into a mental hospital. I was almost nonverbal. My parents came (I asked them to) and he screamed equally horrendous things in my mother's face.
I moved out and got almost all of my possesions out safely. He deliberately smashed two items, claiming an accident. He tried to push my uncle down the stairs.
I have no contact with him anymore and got out safely. My daily life is back to normal but I still have nightmares. Luckily I don't have PTSD. I didn't function well for about 2 months, but that passed.
His family, who I was close to, won't speak to me. That's what hurts the worst. I miss his sister. I have no doubt that he is telling people that I abused him, or that I just went crazy, or some other collection of lies. I don't blame them for believing him. I believed his lies for over a year and a half. He is a talented deceiver, and it is difficult to realize that someone you love could be so cruel.
I wouldn't be surprised if this message got deleted because my abuser runs this website. He seems like a "real nice guy". I just wanted to share my story with people who may have been there.
