Bones

(Good grief.)  I just realized I'm probably the only member who remembers Shatner and Nimoy's appearance on the NBC Today show to talk about the new series.  Am I really that old?  And yes, I remember the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show too.

I would have to go with Picard. He was the first captain I watched. I have only recently begun to watch the original series.

face.

Actually i can think of several requests i would be more than happy
to comply with from Captain Picard. :eyebrows:

Don't think I ever saw Picard?

Capt. Jean Luc Picard was the captain in The Next Generation.   Patrick Stewart played the role.  I was watching something about him the other day.  Now in his early seventies, he has a girlfriend in her early thirties who is a dancer :eyebrows: :eyebrows: :eyebrows:  Gwaaaan Captain

With Bodie here. Picard, without a doubt.

Kirk never stood out for me. He may be the first captain I saw, he absolutely wasn't the most impressive.

Kirk never stood out for me at all.  I have this row a lot about the best star fleet captain with the urchin's dad.  He is a big kirk fan.  I always see kirk as a fat head beer swilling womaniser.  I dunno if i am mistaken but did kirk have an alcohol problem?

Not Kirk, but probably Shatner. :P

:indeed: And a very flat character too.

Chris Pine put down a Kirk character I could believe in. But, no way he will win from Picard.

And now, it is time for: "Tea, Earl Grey, hot."

Bovine heads to kitchen, she still hasn't got her own replicator.

it filtered through, though.  If Shatner is a slob irl, then i will make the same assumption about kirk.

Also, seen kirk in some ghastly green cross your heart three quarter sleeve tunic thing with gold brocade  -  it was most unbecoming for a star fleet captain.  I could never follow orders from someone dressed up like a dogs dinner! :zoinks:

plus,  all those papier mache aliens and polystyrene moon rocks

The gold shirt that was mostly green happened not because someone thought the colour was cool but because the lab kept overcorrecting for skin tones when developing the 16mm stock.

I watched it when it wasn't outdated yet. So, it looked fine to me, and I got hooked on the story. But, not on Kirk. Spock, I did find him very interesting.

When I looked back the first series later, I was amazed that that could have bound me to the TV screen that intense. But, time was slower, when I was a little kid.

Maybe that colour makes it weird for me to watch the first series too. I saw it in black and white, the first time.

I was thinking about the hair on his head. In the 60s he had a receding hairline but in the 80s, during his last few Star Trek adventures, he had a full head of curly hair. Star Fleet medicine can work miracles. :zoinks:

Picard sounds like a leader,  Kirk just sounds like someone in a bar.

Yeah Janeway is definitely starfleet captain material!  and i would follow her orders a lot more

just think she is a bit too emotional sometimes.

None the less 1. Abe Lincoln in Space 2. Nazi Germany in space and 3. 1920s gangland Chicago in space are just 3 examples of the fucktardedness of the original series.
