None what so ever I am in the same boat
-
I am weaning myself off the junk now. I love to eat, so I have had
to find tasty substitutes for my old favorites. I am drinking water in place of sugary drinks,
but I know not everyone likes water. I eat bags of Pink Lady Apples as TV snacks. I think
the most important thing is to take your time and find some new foods that you enjoy. I've
been on diets in which I dreaded my meals. That's no good and is not sustainable. :apondering:
-
Pick one thing at a time. Water with a squeeze of lemon is passable. In the winter time I will sometimes just drink plain hot water rather than coffee or tea. Seems to keep me warmer.
Remove yourself (if possible) from the places and habits that trigger the junk food habit.
Want something salty? crunchy? Eat a dill pickle.
Brush your teeth when you want something sweet.
Substitute. Try cinnamon toast instead of a candy bar or pastry. Popcorn instead of chips.
Don't keep the junk food in the house.
Try to figure out why you want the junk food. Nervous? Take a walk or a soothing bath. Bored? Find something interesting.
Disclaimer: None of these things worked for me.

Maybe try making a simple Italian dish once. Like a pasta with fresh ingredients. Isn't really difficult. If wished I could go through the process here.. but there are a lot of recipes online to be found too.
-
Or, if you eat out, eat somewhere with real food. :viking:

Lots of good suggestions. Definitely start adding more interesting things to your diet. If you're making yourself really good solid meals, then you don't feel such a strong pull for sugar. I don't deny myself anything. I feel it sets one up for failure if you do, but things in moderation are key. My vice is 1 can of coke a day. I like my coke, it's my caffeine/sugar boost for the day so I don't feel guilty about having it. That's balanced out with the fact that I drink a lot of water.
Try new things. new fruits, veggies and dip, pita bread with salsa (Salsa does have a lot of sugar, but it's loaded with other good things too).

That picture makes me hungry, is that some sort of BRAVE fish dish? :viking:

It certainly is. It's grilled salmon :viking:

With potato and onion, I think. I want some! I'm going to sail over there! :viking:

Cold turkey

Cold turkey
A cold turkey sandwich will never replace a Snickers bar :zoinks: :P
-
An additional thought. Eating flavourful foods might satisfy your taste buds. For example, rather than Swiss or American cheese, use Cheddar, Pepper Jack or a smokey cheese. Flavoured rices, spiced up spaghetti, etc. Flavoured coffees, teas or water rather than the soft drink.
-
Sugar is what really gets you. Stop consuming copious amounts of ice cream, sweets, and sodas everyfuckingday. For a start.
And no, you can't substitute sugar for some dubious substance that some goon on TV says it's safe. That's even worse.

Actually I love a cold turkey sandwich anytime ... REAL turkey, not processed!

Ah.
In that case, are you able to talk to a nutritionist?
Also, how do the meds you're on affect your metabolism and appetite?

Hah! I wish I was only 20 pounds overweight! At least I'm down to 305 lbs now (was 360 earlier this year). I need to get down to like 230 in order to not be considered obese anymore (for my height)...

138 kilos? :o

PA is considered to have a high by most BMI charts, but he is extremely big boned. He still could loose some weight, particularly after being laid up for 7 months.
I'm 4 feet 10 inches and weigh 390473984y923hr3owlrjofg70-374234t623i4rhwek;rh340892395y234hr pounds. Was there some interference on the web just now?

Talk to your shrink about the metabolic side effects you're experiencing, including cravings. That's probably more at the heart of the issue.
