Title: Americans
Post by: Émile Armand on February 03, 2012, 04:42:09 PM
Why are Americans so arrogant and ignorant? Is this something that they are brought up with? I have had 2 people on here make unfounded claims without sufficient evidence to support their claims. One refused to admit they were wrong and the other is Canadian, almost American. Same mind set.

I haven't been active here in months, and I can spot him from only reading 3 of his posts.  Yes, very predictable and boring.  There's always one here I guess.  :dunno:

I guess it beats coming back and being a low quality troll.  Just what kind of sad, pathetic life would I show myself to have if I did that?  :hahaha:

I have no problem with Emile at all. I've realized recently that it's important to judge people by how they treat me, not by how they are regarded by others.

I've fell into that trap myself before, and I'm not proud of it. I've also watched others fall into it.

This is how trolls can thrive here.

The attack on Americans is about as obvious as they come, but the deflections weren't exactly subtle either.

Yes and no.

How someone treats me has to be the most important issue for me.

On an internet forum, I should try not to judge people on how they appear to treat someone else. It's so easy to only see one side of an argument, and get the wrong idea of someone.

Yes, someone might do something to someone that seems wrong to me, but I wouldn't know what had caused that person to do that thing. Maybe they have some justification.

Hmm.  So that makes it impossible to judge someone by any other criteria than how they treat you personally.  It seems to me that this particular method of judging others would make it difficult for an internet community to thrive as it would be a conglomeration of one-on-one relationships with no real community involved.

If I started gay-bashing Squiddy but didn't say anything bad to you, this would not affect your opinion of me?

I think that's a slightly different issue. I wouldn't have an issue with you for getting involved in an argument with Squiddy. I would also try not to judge you for a homophobic comment made during an argument, even though I wouldn't like it much.

I would have an issue with your homophobia, but not because it was aimed at Squiddy. Same would apply to racism, sexism, etc.

Dunno if that makes sense at all. I might not be explaining it very well.

"Such an issue"?  Let's not make this bigger than it is.  I am not starting online petitions or going to war with everything you say, wherever you say it.  I simply asked if you wouldn't mind calling out the "boring posters" rather than dropping a comment about how some of the people here are boring.  When you insult "posters" without defining who those posters are, I can only assume I am in the group of people you are insulting.  Many people will feel the same.  Better to actually insult who you mean rather than everyone who reads your post by association.

I pigeon hole people too.  Although I know i am wrong.  I have said dumb things like "people in Liverpool are all thieves"  etc.

I think we all know that not all Americans are fat, etc so it's no big deal.

I worked for someone once who actually thought white people were more intelligent than blacks.  He went into some argument about head shape and size of brains!  He really felt it was his right to look down on black people.  Now that WAS a big deal to me.

dunno about the rest of europe, but here the stereotype is dumb and fat and usually with a gun lol
They are dumb and fat. A lot of them do not even know where the capital of their country is or what language Mexicans or Canadians speak. They think Mexicans speak Mexican. A lot are also really religious and will use their religion to justify all sort of disturbing behaviors.

Mexican men are very attractive.

That's my intelligent contribution to this thread.

I have only seen very few attractive mexican men. i am such a stupid, ignorant american :( I only like white dudes. and i only like tall, skinny white dudes with dark hair. I am a horrible racist against blonds. i think all blond men should be put in concentration camps. and redheads should be shot on sight. as for women, just throw them in the ocean to drown. black guys can stay as a sort of police force, but im not going to jangle their junk around. Charlie Sheen has the right idea. i'm not attracted to him tho, even tho he is tall and skinny with dark hair. too macho. i dont like macho men. i guess thats why i dont like most mexican men. you know who is really really hot ? guys  from eastern europe. ill take a few romanians that cant speak english too well plz.

God Damn it! I got shot!
