Title: I feel I have to say this.
Post by: TA on November 17, 2011, 06:42:33 PM
What MLA said got me to thinking and inspired me to post this.

*Clap* *Clap* *Clap* It seems you have finally repented for your sins MLA, good on you. I have stood by long enough without saying anything, and no, I am not just jumping on the bandwagon. Some of you are arrogant trolls and this is your little cesspool of a BBS that can bring out the worst in people, so I will be addressing your actions. You find one little flaw in a person and you pick at it until the become a scum of the earth troll or until you feel you have bullied them into submission. Case in point, MLA and Calavera.  When MLA was a Moderator at WP, I respected him, as he was one of the people that taught me how to moderate effectively. After being a member here for a short time, I saw what you trolls did to him, you turned him into a troll much like yourselves, at which point I lost my respect for him. I was so blind to do that and now I see that you just bought out a part of him that he keeps under control. Regarding Calavera, I joined the men's board in early April when I thought I could get some perspective on how to embrace being a man while living with Asperger's. I never had the intention of being a Moderator there, and to this day, I have no idea why MLA made that suggestion to Calavera.  Working with him was great to start with, the rules there were to my liking, and he was easy to get along with. Around the time he promted me to Administrator was when I started getting strange feeling that he had changed, and when he was banned from WP for pulling that stupid stunt on Plank, that's when I knew he had turned into a troll. After that point, he changed the rules and slowly started turning MAA into a more I2-like environment. He wanted me to "accept freedom of expression like Intensity does", which I know is code for "tolerate bullying". It's pretty obvious that you people convinced him to change the rules so you would have another place to spew excrement. Over the next few months, I did not like his actions at all, and as such, the threads in our Moderator's forum and PM's were mostly arguments over ethics.

Anyway, I do not consider all of you trolls, there are some of you that I actually like, Bodie, PSP, Zippo, QV, and a few others. Those members I do not consider trolls. I will not be posting here much anymore.

I have said my piece, take it how you will.

Of course he had to blame somebody. God forbid someone take personal responsibility for their own actions.

No, that's just what you want to read to justify this post.  I don't hold anybody else responsible for anything I do.  Don't attempt to represent me, especially if you are going to do it so badly.

Very few of us actually went and joined Calavera's board, so no, if that place turned into a trollfest it wasn't "us" :dunno:

I always thought Calavera only gave you the admin tag on MAA out of pity for your desire to be WP mod, he just wanted to give you a consolation prize.

I stopped caring about the WP thing months ago, how may times do I have to say that? I gave up the admin tag on MAA because I did not want to argue with Calavera to the point where I would say something that I would later regret.

I can see that, my statements were based merely off my observations from the past few months.

It seems I have worn out my welcome here anyway, not that I ever had one.

You are always telling people to 'harden the fuck up' PPK, guess what,  I FUCKING DID.  I HARDENED THE FUCK UP AND SHARED MY HONEST OPINION ON SOME OF YOU.

What you did was try to blame this site for people's behavior. This apparent belief that people with kind dispositions will turn into trolls and/or flame others simply by being here is bullshit. I never did feel particularly welcoming to you here based on what I saw of your behavior @ WP but I have not bothered attacking you either. I haven't noticed anyone else going after you here but with an average of 2 posts per day just how much effort did you expect people to put into making you comfortable here? As for MACV I like how he behaves here and would like him to come back. MACV, just like MLA, is quite capable of taking credit/blame for his own behavior. Do you tend to respect people because they won't own their actions? I don't. I prefer interacting people who do not seek to blame others when their own actions bite them in the ass.

You may have a point, but over the past few months, it certainly seemed like someone was enabling both of them. I have thought about attacking you because of our exchange of words on WP earlier this year, but I found out you were a decent person, and I was being an idiot when I did all that stuff. The main reason I really have not posted much is because the place was semi-dead for the better part of a few months. That, and there was some drama here that I wanted to avoid.

This site is largely unmoderated as you must have noticed by now. People post what they want so what you see is what they want to post. You do not see Hyke, Parts, renaeden or CBC flaming others because it is not their nature to do so. OTOH you will see trolls like Chair posting degenerate shit whether they are here or at WP.

I didn't say that you currently cared, only that your appointment as admin on MAA came at a time when you still did, which just makes me think that Calavera only saw you as some kid who wanted a chance and was only doing you charity.

You might think you're a better person than lots of people here and you can think whatever you want. But broadcasting it with your nose in the air as you walk out the door of this place is a bit sanctimonious.

And nobody took issue with that when you recently said as much during a round of drama. I do not recall anyone saying or implying that you needed to join in where you don't want to.

I have heard the name chair before, but I really have no clue who he is.

He used to post @ WP as PAT666RICK. I got active posting at zOMG Aspies specifically to flame him in an unprotected environment, so I clearly had the qualities that you object to prior to being active here. Except for your initial assertion in this post I don't actually have any issue with what you post here. You have not locked yourself into leaving so your credibility is not at stake if you stick around a bit.

I found some of his stuff amusing though odeon and Parts would likely disagree. I did argue with him @ zOMG about how stupid it was to deliberately set out to get banned here and then whine about being banned here.

Well thank you!

There are a number of things i could think of to do with young men such as yourself - but am going to be good and opt for mothering you and giving you some advice.

There is no poison in the troll making machine.  This is not a maker of trolls.  This site is merely a vessel that gives you a freedom to speak as you want.   Some people use this freedom to explore darker sides to their character.  It can bring out the very worst in people.  This is not the fault of the site.

It is true that a few probably need a moderated site in order to remain decent to others.  Other people are just naturally kind spirited and are not in need of such moderation.

I have seen much of both here.  Then there is in betweeners.  I have seen people who twist and turn like twisty-spinny-turney-wormey-things.  They will be trying to follow in someone elses footsteps, or will post something just to try and be popular.

For me it is a constant challenge to resist the temptation to be nasty at times.  It is about self restraint.  I try to be honest,  and not have any heroes on here.  Heroes will surely default at some point and cause you to feel let down.  I try to post stuff that is true to me,  and not worry about if it is popular or not but at the same time i try to be nice to others and treat them how i would like to be treated myself.  It is not always easy.

One thing for sure,  if you stick around you will see all these things too and it is a worthy personal challenge to see if you yourself can remain a decent human being.

It reminds me sometimes of a book 'the lord of the flies'.

My advice to you is to stick around.  Try not to focus much on the faults of others.  What PPK said is very true that you are only responsible for your own actions.  This should be all that concerns you.

There are some very good people here.  There is also support and wisdom.  It just isn't advertised and may require some scratching under the surface.

You will learn much if you stay.

back when i was about 14 my spelling was just atrocious and one of these "trolls" who happens to be a good friend of mine now used to troll me over my spelling constantly, only solution was to learn to spell better.... i did not even use spellcheck on this post... two years ago it would be impossible for me to type three words without miss spelling one of them.

hello squiddy,  good to see you.

I think he is mistaken in assuming that if people come here and behave badly it is a fault with the site and not a fault of whoever is in question.

Oh, it is indeed their fault for doing what they did. I'm just saying it seems they were enabled.

Enabled by the site or by other members? Who did the enabling and what do you suggest should have been done instead and by whom?

Enabled by members that are still holding on to a transgression that happend over 5 years ago.

Enabled as opposed to....
...disabled???

as i explained the site isn't the bad ingredient.

The site is nothing more than a domain name, a database, and a space within a Hostgator server.

You are not making much sense. Who did the enabling? If you can name the people turned to the dark side, surely you can name the sith lords in question and produce something more than insinuations?

Easy, the members that bitch about stuff that happened on other sites and how they were banned from there, they know who they are.

Wow, am I part of this? I don't make lot of posts here and I have lurked reading all these dramas and made some comments but I have not enabled anyone to be bad. Very interesting how people assume if you comment on something, you are part of it. But at least you don't think everyone is a troll just because they are members here and must be like the baddies here.

It's sad to see people are leaving and I found it very ironic how MLA decided to leave this place too because of what he realized what it was about when he had done some trolling himself but maybe he has perhaps grown up a bit and decided what he has become so he grew up and decided to leave this place.

If you think I am a troll, I like trolls. I have some in my toy box I got at the Montana flea market.

If you believe all the BS you have heard about me, I don't care. People will choose to believe whatever they want and who they want to believe and if they want to believe those former lousy mods, they can go right ahead. It's too stressful to dwell and worry about what people think and what they will believe and MLA posting that mod log really helped me out when I saw what went on behind doors and helped me understood the dilemma better so now I know I didn't really do anything wrong and they were just paranoid so no wonder I had issues, especially the ones I didn't know about, and I am so glad alex fired them. Apparently, being a member here means you are breaking the WP rules and are a troll and have some agenda on WP and are trying to get other trolls to join there and troll and cause trouble so anything you post there you have an agenda and stuff you do here is breaking the WP rules. Yeah that's how paranoid and corrupt they were. Also they must have though anyone someone decided to troll there, I must have known about it and have been part of it. Sure I would know about it eventually because members here and at Zomg would brag about it and I didn't go tattling on them because I didn't want to be a spy. I just stayed out of it. Sometimes they would say they were this troll on WP and it be after they were banned. But why did they keep me on WP all that time is a mystery to me while they keep banning members there who were a member here. Then finally they decided to throw me out thinking I was trying to do something I wasn't doing. One big shitty misunderstanding but I will still view those former mods as bad. Thanks MLA for clearing that up and I thank him for that.

Hey, mate. Long time. What you been up to?

Look, about your thought, as much as you're free to express it, it's just wrong. No one here is responsible for what I choose to do by my own will. That's called scapegoating and I'm not ok with you doing this at all.

You think I2 has made me a troll, and yet I don't see myself as one. Showing indignance with what Alex did is not considered trolling in my book. He really ticked me off when he got rid of that thread because I hate narcissists like him who think they can have anything go their way even if it means being selfish fucking cowards who won't own up to what they do. For some weirdass reason, you randomly defend the guy every now and then, and at other times, you agree it wasn't right what he did. Which makes me think you're suffering major cognitive dissonance there, and I think I know why (but I won't mention it here).

Anyway, I found out Alex was a twat from before I even joined this forum. No one here had much influence on the way I perceived Alex even if Alex never abused that girl. So I really think you should not project your naivete and cluelessness on me. When I spot selfish pricks like him online (or in real life), I act accordingly. There's no time and point for me to give such people the benefit of the doubt simply because people like them rarely (if ever) change.

Sinnocent was crude in her remarks, but she made some good points. I assigned you as moderator over at MAA because I felt for you and wanted to give you a chance and even get you to learn things from your experience as a mod. I had you later on as administrator because I realized you just weren't at the time ready to be a mod (dealing with the rules for MAA) and I didn't want to demod you because, as mean as I can be, couldn't bring myself to do so to someone like you whose feelings in a way I cared about.

Yeah, there was some confusion with the rules only because it was originally meant as an extension for WP then realized that a forum for men with autism couldn't succeed under a WP-like environment, so we had to allow for more freedom of expression (and that was before you became an admin). As far as I know, there wasn't much bullying there. Each member there had more than enough freedom to express his/her own views regardless of what others thought about them.

Hope this clarifies some things for you, and don't ever again put the blame for my own behavior on others.

And to all you guys here, sorry for just disappearing so suddenly, but this break is much needed. And whether I come back to post here regularly or not, you guys take care of yourselves because the New World Order will be implemented soon.

...

Just kidding.

Have fun all.

I remember asking you previously who these people were, and you refused to name them. Can't do much about people who refuse to interact with me and tell me what was actually wrong.

Anyway, what's your point? That it was my fault the forum didn't succeed?

I don't understand this attitude you're having with me. I made quite a few compromises for you and helped you out as best I could without submitting to your unfair conditions for the rules to be changed. I even gave you full reign of that debate section without me intervening in any way as an admin. And yet you did nothing to show you deserved to be in full reign of it. When I suggested you promote it to WP, you chickened out and made some vague excuses ... and I tried my best to be accepting of these excuses and let it go.

I encouraged you all the way while you were an admin of the forum, and even suggested you build your own forum if you felt the forum I made wasn't what you were after WHILE you remained an admin of MAA.

You can go on telling me you spent months trying to defend me from people attempting to guilt trip both you and me, but don't just forget what I did to try to make you happy.

It was, i'll admit she is annoying at times, but there was no need to demean her until she sent me a PM saying she was in tears.

It was just a few WP people that were driven away by some of the stuff said there, it was not really you that drove them a way, some said it was Sir_Les. As for the failure, you just tolerated a bit too much smut for it to succeed

You never did shit to make me happy, and I did not need you to. However I may have been a bit over the top with my comments regarding the other members of this BBS. maybe I should have just blamed you for the stupid shit you pulled. As for your beef with Alex, did you ever see Boo say anything about it? From what i can see of him, he did not care, and TBH, neither do I.

Maybe he tried to make an intro thread when he joined and he crashed the site with his autobiography

The problem with Sir Les' posts is that they are long winded, meandering and packed full of pointless filler.

I can see why Sir_Les turns people off because his posts are too time consuming to reply to.

Many people post partially for entertainment and there's nothing entertaining about miles of meandering posts to reply to.

So if Sir Les was filabustering with walls of text, I'm not suprised people left there.

I encouraged you all the way while you were an admin of the forum, and even suggested you build your own forum if you felt the forum I made wasn't what you were after WHILE you remained an admin of MAA.
Bullshit, again I was your lackey, and you would listen to Sir_Les before you even consider listening to me

Ok, I missed this bit here.

So what exactly was the bullshit in what I said?

You know very well that I encouraged you to build a forum for yourself and to do your own moves if you didn't like the way I was running things with MAA, so again where's the bullshit?

And I did listen to you ... and to Nick ... and to members other than just Sir_Les. If anything, Sir_Les never said anything exclusively that I ended up implementing as far as I know.

While for you, I took your suggestions on the forum section layout and had you do some of the subforums the way you wanted.

Don't tell me I never considered listening to you. I always did. So please take back what you've been implying about me because that's not what I've been expecting from someone like you to do.

Your problem is not that I didn't listen. Your problem is that I didn't fulfill every single desire of yours for the forum. And let's face it, some of them were unfair and unreasonable.

You wanted me to kill freedom of speech for the sake of protecting the egos of certain individuals, and I didn't find this demand to be acceptable at all for the forum and its purpose.

It had nothing to do with long walls of text. In fact, his posts there were relatively short.

What I think Anonymous seems to be hinting at is that Sir_Les' presence there was simply unwanted, which was the reason why some (according to him) never joined.

But it'd be ridiculous to just tell any member that I couldn't have him in the forum because some people who aren't even members didn't like him ... or tell him he needed to change his own style and personality for the sake of others

The dissertation isn't going well (as in, I'm not getting it done). my tutor likes what I've got so far, but I'm finding it really difficult to write.

I'm going to talk about it with my therapist though so hopefully I can sort that soon as it's very frustratying

I've found that I can only battle writer's block by... writing. No matter how crappy and pointless my words are, I write.

After starting to use version control software for handling everything I write I've found it's easier to produce. I know that I can go back to any previous version, which removes a lot of the pressure for me.

I've kind of always been like this in general really, for example ever since I was a kid my bedroom has always either been a total mess or absolutely perfect. right now everything is as I like it, but if I started letting it go and things were no longer in the right place, I'd just think sod it and let it go to shit

In terms of uni, first year was great for me. Didn't miss a seingle lecture, submitted all my work on time, kept my folders organised and took good notes etc. I was a model student really lol. Then started second year in september 2007 and, well, let's just say october/november/december 07 weren't good months for me and that was when my ocd started. ever since then I've really struggled and I don't know why, as toilet/shower ocd shouldn/t directly impact university work, right?

it's frustrating tho, yeh. Maybe I need to try just doing it like you without re-reading it too much. Or maybe make a conscious effort to do it in an anti-ocd way, ie writing it well, but not "just right." I find that helps with my actual OCD.

You call Plank my hero, he is not.

Why have you been afraid of questioning him then (despite what he did)? You sure have no problem questioning me.

I addressed you as boss all the time because to me, you were nothing more than a supervisor, and MAA was nothing more than a business in my mind. I did not consider myself a member there. However, I can give you credit for trying to be my friend.

That's the problem right there. You took it way too seriously for comfort. Business, Anonymous? It was just a forum for spazzy men, not a fucking trade center. :hahaha:

You're now hating on me because the forum was more suitable for free speech than WP could ever be?

Quote
Simply but, Boo is still a member of WP and you are not. I was merely curious about what I saw in that thread and after I looked into it for a bit, I found that it was bullshit. As for these "sneaky people", I could not please them and you, so I just stopped caring.

I don't think Alex being a horrible admin is bullshit, nor do many members here. You're still trying to please those sneaky people despite what you'd like to believe.

I was just thinking, it was a bad idea to blame all of you for the crimes of few and i just got that interpretation from what MLA said. MLA owned up for his actions, as did Calavera. So i should have just blamed them to begin with, and not who they associate with.

As for these "sneaky people", they would not like for me to name them.

I definitely understand about difficulties of writing. I could go on for ages about it. What do you find difficult about it if you don't mind my asking? How long does the dissertation have to be?
Some kind of perfectionism, which is making me think maybe it's related to ocd. I find it difficult not to be all-or-nothing with things. Everything is always oone extreme or the other. ie it has to be perfect, or I just can't handle it. It's so frustrating. Every sentence I write reads back to me like total shit and I can't take it.
That does sound frustrating. Has it been this way for you all through uni? I don't like reading my own writing so I read through something once after I have written it to make sure it is grammatically correct, then never look at it again because I know I will start rewriting and it will never end. I don't even do drafts because of this and it is probably why I don't get the grades I could get. Though I would have gotten 97% for a recent assignment had I not gone over the word limit heh.

Wish I could help you on this but I am a bit similar to you about my uni writing except it isn't too much of a problem. Because I just ignore what I don't like instead of actually doing something about it.

I think maybe your OCD has had an impact on many areas of your life, the toilet/shower side of it being most significant though. And I remember you posting about little OCD things that were annoying to you as well. I guess you could try a combination of my method (ignoring what has been written after a certain point so you don't have to keep going over it) and your anti-OCD way, probably a good idea to keep doing that as it will help with your OCD as a whole.

I think there are heaps of things I do that could potentially turn into OCD but in the end I am just too lazy to implement them. ;)

Great story Scrap. Fuck all sense as usual. Aeroplanes and Rock formations. There is something you are both knowledgeable and entertaining with. Tell us all about Moonies. (Nice and short post - just for you Scrap)

Is cheap ad hominems all you are capable of these days?? Your posts are starting to resemble those of TCO. You know, when you lie with dogs, you rise with fleas and all of that. Are you just going to throw cheap insults or do you actually have anything meaningful to say??

This is not about Moonies and you still make fuck all sense.

No pleasing you is there Scrap? I pander to your idiocy and write a long reply and you complain about how long it is, I post a short, succinct opinion on the lack of meaning you throw into every post you write, and you do not like that either.
You look to me to be the only one still holding on tightly to the TCO drama.

As for “Laying with TCO” never did and never will and you know I will not seek to change your mind here, any more than I would in trying to convince you that Moonies are just another plane. I know what obsession is when I see it.

As for meaning, my opinion is that at the present time, I could throw a bunch of stream of consciousness writing and still out trump you in the “meaningful” stakes.

EGO, if anyone has a massive ego, it's you.

Oh I have a very big ego and an arrogant self-assurance to match yet I am not seeking to mention my relevance on MAA nor trying to shit on Calavera for not giving you control of the whole site.

Let's for a moment humour your idiocy. MAA is not even a forum anymore. It is done and finished. So this is just textual masturbation by you right now. Maybe Calavera was a horrible Admin or whatever. I don't think so and you do.

You would have done differently? Not too late. Go out there you whinging little bastard and start your own forum and maybe you too can get your own little hater, crying ad nauseum about how terrible you are as an Admin for not doing things to their standards or expectations.

Go forth son, show us how it is done!!!

I have no interest in taking sides, and I have no idea who is right and who is wrong.

However, I do have a couple of reservations about some of TAs comments.

Firstly, if he was so unhappy with Calaveras running of the site, then why did he not just leave.
Secondly, TAs comment about Calavera not respecting authority is sad. IMO a healthy disregard for authority is a good thing. I could never be friends IRL with someone who has an automatic respect for authority.

I don't know how to describe it. I just couldn't take him seriously for some reason.
