If you really think that DBZ and One Piece are good anime, then you obviously haven't watched any anime outside of Toonami and Adult Swim. I think they're just crappy shows made for emo teen fags. Along with Bleach, Inuyasha, and Naruto. Those shows are the reason so many people think that anime sucks ass. It's what I like about One Piece - good drama along with good action scenes and character development.
I watch the Japanese originals with subs by the way. Dubs are crap.
I'll watch dubs if they are available. Having to read subtitles takes the visual attention away from the action.

I watched the first 2 seasons of Dragonball Z back in 99/01 . Not by choice, my boyfriend liked it. It was fucking boring as hell. It was a soap opera for men. BORING.

There are a lot of weird commonalities in those Japanese cartoons by the way. The humongous amount of tears and mucus isn't just in that series, it's in many others, too. Along with large eyebrows and large eyes even when the characters are meant to be Japanese. Japanese kids also get to watch uncensored cartoons with heads chopped off and girls flashing their tits, scenes that are automatically censored in America when they're dubbed. :probe:

I like anime since it can be odd for a grown up mind but my inner teenager is nostalgic oddball sex comedies. Grown ass people are not the typical market for most anime and it is intended to entice high strung high school students who are stressed about test taking and the secondary market it for those who are not as socially well off due institutionalized high unemployment rate in Japan. Besides I enjoy my adolescent stories not involving teenaged pregnancies or Western/Abrahamic morality (outside of Super Hero comics of course).
