There have been plans for a European meetup a long time ago but I don't think it will happen :zoinks:

I've met Shleed and Soph irl so far.

This place is too small and the world is too big for meet ups. I doubt lot of us can afford to travel to meet. Anyone else in the PDX area? I know Phuc Yu is but he doesn't come here anymore nor Kassianne. But I see her at the ASAN group anyway and don't forget bigbabbyblue who is my husband. He quit forums so technically I do see a I2 member everyday even though he doesn't come here anymore.

I doubt anyone else here is from my area.

you've also been invited to the East Coast, I'd host you, and you could report back on meeting Drifting Blizzard.

But Manchester is a dump.

When I was sitting on the tarmac in a C-5, somewhere in England, I could hear a voice in a British accent saying "don't go to Manchester, it's a shithole". I took that voices advice.  :zoinks:

Manchester by the sea? (coastal town in Massachusetts).

Let's do it somewhere around New England, that way I don't have to travel far, screw everybody else.

What I find funny about meetups in Aspie forums is the typical irony of "we all hate socializing, so lets get a few hundred of us in a room together".  Personally I like socializing, contrary to what most people on AFF believe, you don't have to hate social interaction to have Autism.

Same here, but it depends on what being discussed, I just get bored from listening to meaningless small talk over a period of time. I've learned enough to play along with, but still. Not many around willing to hold deep conversations.

I don't mind so much with the right people and topics most people talk about crap.  It also takes a few beers and a while for me to warm to the idea of talking

The trouble with me is that I am not very scholarly, and do not retain a huge store of facts,
so I'm not sure conversation with me would be fun for people like you. :-\

Lots of topics besides pop culture ones I like have to deal more with science or current events but if the people are right it can be many things

I love to analyze people's motives and behavior, and I love to talk about cool disease stuff I've seen on TV.
I just can't discuss things at the scholarly level of some people here. :dunce:

The offline asd meetings I've had were good. Even without the right topics. Because none of us was good at the regular social way of talking. So it became very relaxed. One of the few times that I really was scared of wetting my pants because of laughing so hard.

The hard thing is organising a new meeting.
